Ok wait I'm confused by your response to the originator. I would definitely not consider Destiny to be a MMO. First of all the only MMO relation would be the fact that you can encounter players in the tower or instanced worlds. I wouldn't consider that to be a MMO. Also you can't choose what story missions to follow unless you want to skip the small amount of content we have to experience. There are 5 story missions per world roughly including Patrol missions which are in the same areas that you have already explored. That's not MMO based at all. It's a linear story path. There are no NPC's located in any of the worlds that allow for additional quests, story interactions etc. The shooting mechanics are great and that's what is attracting people to playing the game. MMO's are about a Massively Multiplayer Online experience. Nothing about Destiny is massive :) the skill trees and character creation are extraordinarily limited. The skill tree varies with things like 1 of 3 grenade choices and how you want to change your armor, recovery and agility. The only thing that separates Titans, Warlocks and Hunters is a limited skill difference and the gear that each person chooses which also is limited in variety. It would make sense that Titans should be tank like. Considering they are clad in crazy amount of armor. However unfortunately Titans seem as resistant to bullets as a Warlock clad in a robe. I love both classes and have both classes but I wouldn't consider that to be a massive difference. Also no one has to power level in this game. It's quite easy and very quick getting to level 20. People were max level the day after the game released. So naturally people are upset and concerned about the longevity of a game if max level is achieved so easily. Extra content is appreciated and encouraged if Bungie wishes to keep players interacting and experiencing their title. The content they have currently is insanely repetitive as it is limited in scale. Another point players are upset about. The reason some feel jipped out of their investment is due to poor explanation or titling of the game. People expected a Massively Multiplayer Online world. If Destiny considers itself to be an MMO then I would also consider Borderlands to be an MMO. The areas, weapon selection and quest variety is simply larger than this initial release and I'm not considering the expansions of either Borderlands titles. I guess I should have made this its own post but I thought I would add a different opinion.

  • Pretty sure their exact phrasing was "with mmo like qualities" not an actual mmo. Also, mag had 128 players in combat at once. Granted buggy as hell and laggy sometimes but still enjoyable. I think they could have pushed to a lil more than 3 in a fireteam and 12 in a world/planet.

  • Totally agree with having more players in various places that are instanced. The only disappointing thing with that in mind is there really aren't activities besides Public events which encourage simultaneous/coop play. The events are also slightly slow to happen which I understand due to the rewards however again then you don't have coop activity. They should have released an area/zone etc for high level farming. Not killing lvl 5 guys for drops. That way you may have had more of a reason to team up with others around you.
