I've played a lot of Halo, and one thing always under discussion there was K/D ratio. It's always been a stat that people either seem proud of, or want to use to give/lessen weight of someone else's opinion on the forums (like it matters? well, to some it does...). It's a stat that you (Bungie) prioritise above all others in PVP. Now before I go on, I would like to point out my current K/D in Clash matches (where I now 'take it seriously') is 1.36, and I use a hand cannon. But I would like to ask that you either a) provide some other statistic analysis with equal weighting to K/D, or b) give the option for people to hide statistics from view. Why? It's vanity really. I never used to care about K/D at all. Until it started to get quite good that is. Now, I start to grind my teeth a little if my team mates aren't backing me up, or if I just perform a little worse in a match. I can almost feel that K/D going down. It means I approach most games with this need to make sure I kill at least as much as I die, and preferably kill far more. Why does this matter? Well, if you were previously a Halo player *and* a forum reader, you'll know that something as silly as a statistic on a screen makes people do the following things in games: 1. Quit if they/the game begins to go badly. 2. Not fully participate in any objective game (in Destiny's case, Salvage, and Control), because objective locations are hotbeds of death activity and has a huge chance of death, even if you secure the objective for your team 3. Sit at the back/some corner of a map not helping their team, because even if they can camp there and never die, and only finish with three kills, it looks *great* on their K/D rating. Dont think people do that? I've seen it. A lot. Dont believe it? Please, then, just take my word for it. People will do crazy things for a stat on a screen. You only have to read any thread about PVP even on here to see some virtual frothing at the mouth over a poster's K/D ratio, and how terrible it is, or if it's good, how then it must have all been done with a shotgun (or some other excuse). In one of the Halo games, it used to be possible to hide K/D statistics, and I think that did wonders. Because it gave that way out for those who might otherwise quit a game to avoid having such a 'bad' reputation on full display. I think it would also be good to give more meaningful statistics to the stat breakdown screen, because currently there is basically only K/D, and then the rather vague, 'score'. If you play a Titan with a bubble shield, or even a sunsinger warlock, you may not get as many kills, but you may be saving your team tenfold. If you get 10 kills, but 20 deaths, but then gain 20 zone captures, it would be nice to know that. So if you can provide such stats, then please do so, and if you cant, please consider having an option to not display them. For now, I'll continue going from game to game freaking out over every death that didnt have at least two kills during its timeframe ;-)
