Okay first off. We should not be raidng or doing strikes or saving up coins just to LOOK the way we want. First rule of any online game is the ability to look the way you want. So you can be identified as YOU. Individualism is key to an online game's success. You seem to have it backwards. We shouldnt be getting armor shaders as raid drops, we shouldnt be working tirelessly to work together only to get something that makes us look asthetically different.
Solution: Add an 'Appearance' tab to the menu. This Appearance tab will almost look identical to the character tab, with a few changes. First off, anything slotted in your appearance slot will have no influence over your stats or anything regarding fuctionality. They will strictly be used to change your appearance. Armor that can go into the appearance slot is the same as standard gear. Players can hold onto their favorite looking gear to equip in their appearance slot to keep themselves from changing how they look for functionality. However, if you wish to have the look of an exotic, or raid gear. You still have to earn that gear. This will make it so that Bungie does not have to change entire formulas and systems to give us this option.
The armor shader and ghost skin slots will be moved to the Appearance tab, and weapons will not be included(unless Bungie really hits the ball out of the park and allows us to customize weapons asthetically). Armor shaders should also be more easily gained(the vendor should sell more than two purple shaders and a green one...)
This addition to the game will give players a reason to hold onto specific gear, rather than have 1200 plasteel in their inventory. And old gear that looks cool, doesnt have to be discarded for gear that has better stats. Also there should be no limit to how many exotics you can equip into your appearance slot. To let yourself REALLY standout as experienced/lucky.
Please sign this and keep it on the front page.

Just to clairify, I realize that this is not a solution to having to do raids for appearances and such... but it is a middle ground to allow for easier implementation.
