STOP racing through the Strikes if you actually want Legendary Rewards

It's getting to be a common thing now during the Lvl 24 Strikes that I see these kids race as fast as they can through the Strike usually hopping on their speeder bypassing the first several mobs of lower level enemies which is fine but then they continue on and bypass as many of the Lvl 24 enemies as they can just to get to the final boss quicker. Why? The boss gives you nothing and your chances of getting anything worthwhile from the end game roll are poor odds for the amount of time it takes to complete each Strike. Your best shot of getting a Legendary Engram drop or at least multiple blue Engrams to give you a chance at Legendary gear and to rank up the Cryptarch is to kill every Lvl 24 enemy up to the boss because that is where all of my Legendary Engrams have come from and I get at least half of my blue Engrams from Mob drops to go along with what I get in the end game roll. The Lvl 24 Tiger Strikes since the last patch appear to have a higher drop rate than the normal game modes at least in the areas you're facing Lvl 24 enemies, and so bypassing them to finish the Strike faster is just decreasing your chance of getting multiple drops. There's little other reason to be grinding Lvl 24 Strikes in that manner because you can earn Vanguard rep faster farming Patrols, Vanguard Marks faster farming Public Events, and if you need a bunch of Strikes for a Bounty run the Lvl 8 Devil's Lair on Earth and get them done quick. So don't be that guy that runs way out ahead of everyone else. Don't waste you and your teammates chances for more Legendary/Exotic drops. It doesn't take but an extra 5 minutes or so to clear out all the Lvl 24 enemies your bypassing between you and the Boss when you do it as a group.

funny I rush tiger strikes 24/7 and ignore anything that isnt required of me to kill AND i still have the most kills 98% of the time. so not only do i usually have the best chance of getting drops(most kills) but i also beat the strike quickly. people killing adds that don't need to be killed to progress through the strike are just wasting my time.

  • Maybe some people like to race to the end and see how how fast they can kill the boss. You are the one who needs to listen to your own advice and don't be that guy. Who cares if they race to the kill your mobs like you want to and then start of with a new strike when the boss dies. Its a lot easier to not worry about how others play. Some people just don't get how this type of game works. Also don't play with randoms

  • You're neglecting bounties, in particular exotic bounties. And marks/rep. It's that simple.

  • Bad Juju. I had to run. Seriously though, I loathe people that farm the start of a strike and leave me to face level 24 Nexus Mind alone. I'm fine with killing every last enemy between the spawn and the boss, I usually do. Just do it efficiently. Work together, be a killer fireteam mowing down your foes, and it only takes a few extra minutes to kill everything.

  • Who says everyone is looking for the drops... I for one don't play them for the drops... I have all the gear I could possibly need so I just rush to get the marks...

    • Then how about you be that guy that stays back and kills mobs that continuously respawn while I solo everything? I bet you were all over these 'loot caves,' huh? It's ok, if I can solo a Nightfall, I'm sure I'll be fine doing my Strikes for marks. That, and I never get drops, but I sure as hell get a ton of engrams at the end.

      • I only do the strikes for the Marks. There is no garantee that we get a legendary by killing everything. Eventualy you always stumble upon a legendary drop. But if you are right i Will slow down:)

This may have been said below but here goes: *Edited: Good point on recommending to use earth's lev 8 strike for exotics.* I think there's a west side story thing going on here. Rushers, and cleaners (my new coined words). Rushers want to burn strikes for end of mission rewards (rapid strike completion), cleaners want to kill everything from start to finish (possible engram drops). Solution: get on your headset. Figure out what it is you're doing. If you instant matchmake into a group with 2 rushers and you want to clean, you'll upset the rushers. They'll say you aren't contributing to the fight by staying back while they clear the required mission check point areas. The same could be said the other way around. If you rush solo then you're ditching your team. Communication solves this simple misunderstanding. People play differently. End of story. The game doesn't know your preferences. Don't think someone else is being cheap just because it's not your way. There are two very logical and perfectly acceptable ways to do this. When all else fails, build a fire team of friends. It's the only bonafide way of preventing these kinds of frustrations in the first place. Good luck brother. I'm a rusher, but I'm the kind that would hang back if someone had a headset and said something... Cheers.

      • even going for drops..it still doesn't make sense to kill trash. can easily do most strikes in 15 min or less if you are fast and know what you are doing.. people like you wasting time killing trash enemies are the same people i ditch and restart the strike. if you stop to kill level 8's on the way to the first room in sepik's for example? you'll be soloing the first room.

Well I understand now why you do Strikes but that isn't why I do them. I do them for rep and marks, and the guaranteed reward. If I want to go farm loot for drops, I'll do that on my own where I can maximize my own efficiency instead of relying on others to carry me (i.e. go solo the weekly/nightfall).

only thinking about your needs? so is everyone else. if you weren't such a noob you would know that there are plenty of exotic missions that require lots of strike grinding. SO, would you like to do 25 strikes for me to complete this bounty? OH and you are 'That Guy' who just wrote a sob story on a forum. + quit joining pick up groups. make some friends. quit whining, here is your binky.

          • i run through strikes... however i always kill all the enemies. Why would i go slow? the number of enemies is the link to how many engrams and loot. as fast as possible but kill everything

            • its called a speed run... to finish the daily/weekly quickly or to get marks and rep quickly... rng loot is pure luck... whether you go through the whole dungeon or not, getting loot is pure luck. the only garauntee is the marks, or the daily/weekly reward. p.s. speed runs for marks and reps is the quickest way to get legendaries, quit slowing us down because you want to kill every pointless mob...

              • I have a buddy that has the exact opposite effect. If he kills on way he gets all blues if he skips he gets a purple at the end. Now when this happens (if he stops to kill - me and another get 1 or 2 purples FROM HIS KILLS and he gets all blues). From what I can tell... 1. YOUR NAT connection COUNTS! 2. There are some people that drop legend for me so I try to play more with them 3. some people I play with and get squat (greens is what I get) all day and others drop blues form me.

              • I do not race through at the speed of some players, but it really annoys me when people spend time at the beginning of the strike killing the level 8 enemies. I also know what opponents can be easily run past, I am currently doing the 5 strikes without getting killed for an exotic bounty. I don't really want to waste my time doing it.

                  • Quicker you do one strike the quicker you can do the next. I one shot both the level 8's and 24's with headshots, why would I waste my time clearing trash when I can just do another strike afterwards. Plus the quicker you do it the quicker you get the guaranteed engram at the end.

Look, everyone is entitled to play how they want. If you don't like the way randoms run strikes, find friends that run how you want to. This goes for everyone on here debating both sides. It would increase you and your fireteams enjoyment of the game.

                    • The only one wasting anyones time here is you... If you want to farm low level trash mobs just do solo runs over and over and over again for those trash mobs... Most people doing the lvl 24's at this point are doing bounties and could care less about garbage green loot.
Yeah let's waste our time on the low level mobs that aren't even part of the strike, because we absolutely need those green engram's, even if it takes us an extra 2 hours.
