STOP racing through the Strikes if you actually want Legendary Rewards

It's getting to be a common thing now during the Lvl 24 Strikes that I see these kids race as fast as they can through the Strike usually hopping on their speeder bypassing the first several mobs of lower level enemies which is fine but then they continue on and bypass as many of the Lvl 24 enemies as they can just to get to the final boss quicker. Why? The boss gives you nothing and your chances of getting anything worthwhile from the end game roll are poor odds for the amount of time it takes to complete each Strike. Your best shot of getting a Legendary Engram drop or at least multiple blue Engrams to give you a chance at Legendary gear and to rank up the Cryptarch is to kill every Lvl 24 enemy up to the boss because that is where all of my Legendary Engrams have come from and I get at least half of my blue Engrams from Mob drops to go along with what I get in the end game roll. The Lvl 24 Tiger Strikes since the last patch appear to have a higher drop rate than the normal game modes at least in the areas you're facing Lvl 24 enemies, and so bypassing them to finish the Strike faster is just decreasing your chance of getting multiple drops. There's little other reason to be grinding Lvl 24 Strikes in that manner because you can earn Vanguard rep faster farming Patrols, Vanguard Marks faster farming Public Events, and if you need a bunch of Strikes for a Bounty run the Lvl 8 Devil's Lair on Earth and get them done quick. So don't be that guy that runs way out ahead of everyone else. Don't waste you and your teammates chances for more Legendary/Exotic drops. It doesn't take but an extra 5 minutes or so to clear out all the Lvl 24 enemies your bypassing between you and the Boss when you do it as a group.

    • I speedrun the most stuff and i also get between 10-15 blue an 1-3 legendarys after 4strikes. I don't matters how you play it. It is to random dude. And to kill every enemy takes more time then speedrun. If you stay on the right place it is like the loot cave. And when you go as lv29 in the tiger strikes you are rushing it. Because you can do with the Handcannon 1 hit kills. In my opinion it don't matters. My friend is doing what you say all the time, and he get nearly nothing out of it. Only wasting his time

    • While I normally kill all of the enemies in my way during Vanguard strikes, if I have played the same strike two or three times in a row (which has happened quite a lot) I'll just skip as many enemies as possible to get it over faster. To my knowledge, yes, farming patrols will get you more rep than doing strikes. Marks from public events, on the other hand, is a different story. Some public events are more likely to happen than others and in different areas ("event A" in "Area A" may happen 90% of the time while "event A" in "Area B" may only happen 10% of the time) and even then, they only happen about twice an hour, while most Vanguard strikes can be beaten in 10-20 minutes.

There's a chance you can get engrams from the Strikes. There's also a chance you'll get nothing until the end reward screen. I've had several strikes where the only worthwhile rewards I got were from the end game screen, and I did stop to fight everything, as I used to be like you. However, since the patch where 24 Strikes give engrams, I've seen less and less engrams drop, not just in strikes, but in general. I went through several strikes getting nothing but a few greens, killing everything in sight. So yeah, now I might skip a few enemies here and there, because personally for me, odds are I won't get anything as the game has shown time and time again. Also, if someone does stop to kill everything, as long as I aggro them with my speeder, any blue drops will appear at the postmaster. I don't mean to sound bad with that, but it's true. The first day of the update I got a crap ton of blue engrams, but the drop rate of them seemed lower and lower as time went on. Edit: I found 5 purple engrams on the day before the cryptarch update, and have only found 1 since, on a level 12 story mission for the Queen. Second Edit: Also, unless those engrams are dropping Raid Armor, I have a fair amount of everything I really need at this point, and the odds of getting an engram that will contain the one Exotic I want are so astronomically low that why should I bother trying to find a random engram amongst the level 2's before the strike?

        • I agree, they all fly through them and miss the mobs which give you far more blues and other drops. Plus people leaving early is pissing me off as well.

          • What's it matter? Most people doing Tiger are high enough level to do it on their own. Hell, i'd RATHER go solo on 24 strikes. That's just me though. But anyways, it's because strikes are tedious and so boring when you do more than like, 2 per session (without friends, it's a bit more fun with friends). Especially if its the exact same one literally 4 times in a row. And if you want to sit back and kill the garbage and trash mobs on the way to the darkness zone, go ahead. I do it on occasion, but i honestly just want to get strikes done ASAP when i grind them. Also, don't i get any Rare/Legendary engram drops that drop from an enemy that i don't pick up in the mail anyways? If so that's a great incentive to leave someone else grinding the trash mobs and getting drops from them. You get what you want, i get what i want. We both win in that situation.

            • Go report anyone you like. Players have the right to play the way they want and there is nothing you can do about. If you care about loots then play with your friends. Most of us doing strike to beat the final boss cuz that's more challenging, others do it for bounties. I don't care about loots anymore since it's a waste of time. If you want legendary stuff then do the queen mission or get your vanguard/crucible rank up to 3 and do the public events for marks and shards. If you want exotic stuff do the weekly strikes which gives you 3 strange for each difficulty. I have made 3 characters. Warlock level 26, Titan level 29 and hunter level 26. I can get 27 strange coins a week doing the weekly strike level 28. Also you get for every 10 blue engrams a strange coin.

              • Disagree. RNG and I do not get along. I only do strikes so I can get marks so I can buy legendaries. I've never gotten an exotic drop from a strike and if I've ever even gotten a legendary I don't remember it. Faster strike = Faster marks. Faster marks = 100% sure fire way to get legendaries.

              • Exotics are in the end loot table for Vanguard Tiger, blue engrams (at least) are a promise at the end. Blues turn into both Motes and Coins. Completing a Strike in five minutes three times in a row, which totals to fifteen minutes, is more profitable than one Strike in fifteen minutes where most of the drops will be green, if anything at all.

              • I only do strikes because some bounties make you do it and if I need extra marks. I look for loot drops while patroling. Don't have time to hang out in a strike for a long time that will only give you 25 rep. Much better to zip through it and get to the end real quick, finish the bounty and then do the real loot dropping while patrolling and which also earns rep faster. Also, I earn my gear playing crucible marks.

              • I'm finding the drop rates since patch abysmal. Actually got a legendary engram in a chest 1 hour after playing post-patch, now nothing it seems for the last 4 days, I'm guessing 10+ hours at least? That engram I did get gave me mats, 2 cryptarch levels gave me all blues, and all blues I've gotten have stayed that way. I dunno, it's like Bungie wants to remove all hope and just make you work to buy everything, is that supposed to be fun? I actually preferred the version of the game where purples would actually drop and you get screwed out of them. Obviously you don't want to make a game less fun, but it seems Bungie's first priority is to nerf all progress to mask the fact the content is severely lacking. They're trying to buy time until DLC or something, it's sad.

                • If you want to kill all the trash, by all means, you can go right ahead. I skip the trash because I don't care about the drops (other than Cryptarch rank), I'm often doing a bounty and want the rewards, or need marks. If I run ahead and solo the important mobs and the boss while you're doing trash, you still get your end rewards and you get all your engrams from the trash. So, who really loses here? Me, because I didn't pick up the possible 1 Legendary or 2-3 blues amongst the 40 greens? Oops, guess that sucks for me. Why is it that people can't simply play something without worrying about other people? It's a 24 Strike and most people I've seen running them are 26+ who could solo them almost as fast as three people can tackle them, get over it. You kill the trash, I'll kill the boss. Then we both win and we get it done just as fast. Sorry I want to play the RNG game in a slightly different manner than you.

done the strikes so many times and they are kinda boring to me now so I just want to get through it as fast as possible for the guaranteed rewards at the end If I do 3 strikes in the time you do 2 I still kill a bunch of extra mobs but I received 3 end rewards instead of 2 I find patrols tedious when they make you fly around the map and I'm not gonna stand around bored waiting for public events thus I do strikes and I want to do them fast, if there is a bounty that coincides wit the strike, even better no idea why you can't figure out why peeps doing something 100x makes them want it to go as fast as possible because the trash mobs are just pure tedium this happens in ALL MMO's. Peeps repeat stuff a TON of times and just want it to go as fast as humanly possible for the tiny progression it gives. you can generally skip every single thing in a strike that isn't in a darkness zone. they go hella fast when you skip all the other trash.

                • We used to race through certain dungeons in FFXIV; then, they created walls and spawn points to slow us down. No more speed runs. *tear* I think if we keep racing through stuff, Bungie may throw up speed bumps, too. :(

They gave the new patch the option of legendary engrams or drops now so it's only natural to hurry the hell up AND further more the reason I race thru them is because 1. I'm bored of the same shit over and over 2. I usually am trying to earn vanguard MARKS 3. It's a bounty I'm trying to finish

                    • I do most of my strikes for bounties and stuff. So I speed through it. Additionally, I want the end roll. You could stop to kill the trash in the non-darkness zone, but then you're slowing done your group who wants to continue. By your logic, you want to kill as much as possible because you think strikes give better/more drops, not to sound like a butt, but where's the proof? I hear people always saying that but what even? Anyway, as I was saying, if you just complete the strike with your team then you can go on your merry way to do another strike and farm for more engrams, no ones stopping you from doing multiple strikes, so there's no reason to destroy trash in the non-darkness zones as if they're more special than the enemies in the darkness zone. Tends to be more enemies to farm from in the darkness anyway, so why stop in the patrol areas?

                    • I don't believe what OP has said is true. There are multiple reasons for rushing through the level. Some people bank on the end roll, but for me I usually rush through to complete a bounty. Because in my opinion, completing as many bounties as possible (most of which have something to do with strikes) is the best way to get legendary gear. In my entire time of playing Destiny, I found only one legendary engram drop, and that was driving back and forth between loading screens to farm as many enemy kills as possible. However, by completing bounties and earning vanguard or faction marks, you can gain access to Legendary gear a lot quicker than farming or banking on the end roll of a strike. Also it gets boring having to kill the same enemies again and again.

                    • The way Strikes seem to work. You are spawned in a Public Bubble with Respawning enemies that dont seem to have a different drop rate. Then you go through 1 or 2 Dark Zones where the Enemies dont respawn and are in a limited supply. And usually you have to kill all of them before DinkleBot opens a Door. If the Dark Zones have a higher drop rate then it would pay to Kill them very very fast, so you can complete the mission, get the End Roll, and Start all over again to rekill the Dead Zone enemies.

people are bored killing millions of trash mobs in strikes they've memorized top to bottom. but you're right.
You can earn Vanguard rep 5x faster farming Patrols, Vanguard Marks 5x faster farming Public Events
indeed. but realize people play tiger strikes for the explicit purpose of farming the end roll. me personally i no longer race through strikes because what's at the end? usually a couple rares for my level 25+ character who has zero need for them ever.
