STOP racing through the Strikes if you actually want Legendary Rewards

It's getting to be a common thing now during the Lvl 24 Strikes that I see these kids race as fast as they can through the Strike usually hopping on their speeder bypassing the first several mobs of lower level enemies which is fine but then they continue on and bypass as many of the Lvl 24 enemies as they can just to get to the final boss quicker. Why? The boss gives you nothing and your chances of getting anything worthwhile from the end game roll are poor odds for the amount of time it takes to complete each Strike. Your best shot of getting a Legendary Engram drop or at least multiple blue Engrams to give you a chance at Legendary gear and to rank up the Cryptarch is to kill every Lvl 24 enemy up to the boss because that is where all of my Legendary Engrams have come from and I get at least half of my blue Engrams from Mob drops to go along with what I get in the end game roll. The Lvl 24 Tiger Strikes since the last patch appear to have a higher drop rate than the normal game modes at least in the areas you're facing Lvl 24 enemies, and so bypassing them to finish the Strike faster is just decreasing your chance of getting multiple drops. There's little other reason to be grinding Lvl 24 Strikes in that manner because you can earn Vanguard rep faster farming Patrols, Vanguard Marks faster farming Public Events, and if you need a bunch of Strikes for a Bounty run the Lvl 8 Devil's Lair on Earth and get them done quick. So don't be that guy that runs way out ahead of everyone else. Don't waste you and your teammates chances for more Legendary/Exotic drops. It doesn't take but an extra 5 minutes or so to clear out all the Lvl 24 enemies your bypassing between you and the Boss when you do it as a group.

  • I had no idea that the lower level enemies had an increased engram drop rate! I thought that only the strike enemies did! Thank you for the heads up!

    • Are you slow? Or just confused? You tag #DontWasteYourTime but by full clearing the strike that is what you are doing. More strikes = more emblems. More emblems = more legendaries more = legendaries is more to sell to upgrade raid gears

      • Perhaps the reason they're racing through the Strikes is because they're trying to earn Vanguard Marks, in which case they'd be able to get Legendary stuff anyway.

      • Well killing every single enemy in a lvl 24 strike could make the strike last upwards of 45 minutes were u may only get 1 or 2 extra blues so lets say the rng after the game is good u can get 6+ blues if ur lucky were as if u speed run and maybe take 15 mins u can run almost 3 and lets say again the rng at the end of the game is good u can be looking at 15+ blues jus from rewards. After the last patch it is far better to speed run than kill everything

I'm not wasting my time considering that beating a strike gives me a chance at a legendary engram, and this random chance does not increase or decrease based on the time it takes to complete the strike. The faster I complete said strike, the faster I can jump in another and roll the dice at another legendary engram. If you want to mercilessly kill the lower level enemies that are present in patrol mode, and will continue to respawn no matter how many times you kill them, simply go to patrol mode.

You CAN ignore Respawning enemies, ie; ones on planet but not part of the actual mission. Like AlmostUseful says, you can run by them. Just don't ignore the rest! I get the best drops from enemies DURING the raid/strike.

      • Well, the reason I race through a Strike is just to complete it.....but I didn't know Legendary items could be dropped from any enemy (correct me if I'm wrong). But then again, what would be the point if my teammates are just going to race through the mission if I on the other hand want to putz around and collect Legendary drops? Sometimes it's also the opposite, where I'm the one racing through the mission and tackling the objectives by myself and my teammates show up much later. Plus there's usually no communication between us, so it's not like we decide "Oh let's just explore and farm for Legendaries," or something. What about the Strike options in the first map menu when you choose to set the destination? Those ones usually have you doing the Strikes all by yourself (unless you invited others). Would enemies in those missions drop Legendary items as well or no? If so, I could just roam around on this week's Heroic Strike, all by myself, and take my sweet time killing everybody and earning my loot.....but would having a low difficulty setting effect the likeliness of getting Legendaries? Honestly, I don't know this stuff. Anyway, I can only speak on my behalf when I say that my intentions in doing Strike missions are fair. I usually do a Strike just to complete it, and of course rake in Vanguard Marks, reputation, and whatever bonuses are yielded at the end. However, per my experience, it isn't possible to just run through a significant wave of enemies, and that even if you could the door would be locked until you finish them off.....but then again, I would fail at trying to just run past the enemies, so I just fight them off...not that I've tried running past them, especially on Lv.24 Strikes, because even if I'm Lv.28, the enemies are still quite deadly. This would hold especially true for this week's Heroic Strike; I forget the name right now but the target is Valus Ta'aurc, so you all should know what I mean.

      • I agree. Yes you have the guaranteed drops at the end but here you have a chance at more. I kill everything on my path to the end because i'm either lvling a new gun or gear , trying to lvl a subclass or to just do the strike how it was meant to be done and when I do anyone of those things i'm getting a chance at a green or higher engram of dropping. My first purple was from a strike , off a mob I decided not to skip.

      •
Don't be that guy. Don't waste your time
Lol i could go start a thread right now telling people above level 24 doing these strikes there is no point in staying behind and fighting off the enemies who rarely drop anything. You are the one wasting your time, if you bypass everything, and only do your objectives, you can get through a strike in almost 10 minutes. With that i get Vanguard marks, rep, and 2 random items at least blue or better. Who is the one wasting their time here?

            • You're both right and wrong. Yes your odds of getting engrams are markedly improved by taking the time to kill every last bugger between you and the boss. However, a lot of us, especially at higher levels, are grinding strikes for bounties. I'm working on the Bad Juju bounty and must complete 25 strikes. I REALLY don't care to slaughter every single minion every single time since there are only five strikes to pick from and it rapidly gets uber-boring.

Lmao I'd rather be matched up with a bunch of speedrunners then with someone who literally doesnt do jack shit, sits in the spawn and waits for the strike to complete or sit in the spawn and shoot low level mobs until the other players complete the strike. Speedrunners aren't a bad thing at all. You can sit back and kill everything by your damn self and chances are you will get to the boss before it is killed. Really you re backwards about who is wasting time.

This is by far, one of the worst post I've seen. If I can finish the striker soone, that means I can get my ass onto another strike. I'm not snailing through strikes for no reason.
