(grabs braille machine) Stop just thinking about your own needs, and look at the game as a whole. There are only about three ways you can earn legendary gear. There are about a DOZEN ways you can earn materials. The way you mention is really only open to those players who have a regular FT that they can play with. Whereas most of the ways in which materials can be earned are easily accessible even by solo player. The game isn't structured to fulfill ONLY your personal needs. The game is structured so that MANY people in MANY different circumstances can have pathways to get what they need rom the game.

  • Exactly the reason it should give you the weapon/armour, if you don't need or want said item all you see are mats, if however you do need or want the item, I hope to god you see where I'm going with this. You yourself said that the queens missions were to equip those that don't have legendary gear, what good are mats if you don't have the gear to use them on?

  • Okay, one last time. 1. The Queens Wrath was a special event. 2. When there are no special events, the opportunities to win armor to GET the materials is limited, and very difficult to access for people who play solo or don't have a regular fireteam. 3. Awarding of materials serves two purposes. It gives solo players---through activities they can readily access---the opportunity to advance thorugh the game if they cannot put together ar regular team to do weekly activities or raid. ...and obtain their gear through either drops, earning marks, or as rewards for levelling up their cryptarch or Vanguard rep over team. ONLY the person who is raiding on a regular basis is in ANY position to "complain" about getting Ascendent Materials. Because, to everyone else, they are rarer and more precious than even armor and weapons they serve to upgrade.

  • No. Just talking to someone who is either unable or unwilling to see beyond his own needs. So what I am saying isn't making much sense to him. But you may want to notice that you are the only person complaining about getting shards/AE. Think about it.

  • I think you must be slow. So you are saying that, if you got a legendary weapon that was better then the one you have you would be upset that you didn't get energy? Even though you can just dismantle the weapon to get the energy. IF YOU NEED THE MATS YOU CAN DISMANTLE THE ITEM TO GET THEM. How is getting just the materials from legendary engramsnot getting jipped?

I'm not slow at all. YouR ability to see things beyond your own point of view is apparently limited. 1. Right now I've got 5 or 6 Legendary weapons and multiple sets of legendary Armor. Most of which are maxxed out from regular upgrade materials, and CRAVING shards or energy to finish them. Until I get them I am stuck at level 27. So the notion that I would be "upset" at getting the materials I need is rather foolish. 2. If I get a legendary weapon or armor that I can't use...I'm willing to break them down for the materials, but as a solo player I get FAR more opportunties to earn materials than I do to get armor. YET I STILL DON'T HAVE ANYWHERE NEAR ENOUGH FOR WHAT I NEED. So to forgo those opportunies to get materials in some vain hope of getting armor or weapons more often is equally foolish. Especially, if I play my cards right, I can get shards or energy everyday from public events, or every few days from levelling up my Cryptarch. The game is designed to be played many different ways, by many differnet players in many different situations. The problem isn't that I'm "slow"..its that you seem to think that only YOUR situation and YOUR needs are the only legitimate ones here.

  • Sure. If you can give me any suggestions on how to explain the concept of "blue" to a colorblind man who thinks that the notion that "blue" and "green" are different colors is a sign of mental illness? Like so many self-absorbed people you make the mistake of assuming that anyone who doesn't see the things the way you do, simply doesn't UNDERSTAND the situation. I *understand* the situation quite clearly. I just have a situation that is different than yours. I play the game differently than you do...and I have the perspective to understand that the game needs to meet the needs of a WIDE VARIETY of players. Not just yours.

  • Okay retard, if you can get the materials from dismantling the items why would you prefer just the materials. Lets say I get a legendary primary engram, my current primary is Dr nope and the engram gives me Dr nope but with better perks than the one I have, what do I do? Well, I equip the better version and dismantle the old one for ascendant energy. Now, lets say it gives me something entirely different but still better, what do I do? I equip the better weapon and dismantle the old one for ascendant energy. Now, lets say it gives me something worse, what do I do? Well, I dismantle the new albeit worse weapon for, you guessed it, ascendant energy. Now, lets say the first legendary engram I have found in days turns into JUST ascendant energy, what do I do? You guessed it, wish it gave me a better weapon but, even if it didn't I can always dismantle it into..................ASCENDANT ENERGY........................

  • Okay...last time. I'll try to put the dots *really* close together for you. 1. I play primarily solo....as a Warlock. 2. So---at level 27----The Daily and Weekly Challenge activities are too hard to do by myself, and I don't have a consistent group of players to help me. 3. So I come accross Legendary engrams VERY RARELY. So when I get them I want the WEAPONS and ARMOR themselves..not the shards. I've only "sharded" three legendary or better items....and only did so because I didn't want them. 4. (Now pay attention) Getting Shards and energy frequently for activities that I can easily do as a solo player (eg Public Events) and for levelling up rank with the Vanguard and Cryptarch is of FAR more value to me as a player than getting more legendary gear at significantly less frequent intervals for the activities that I have ready access to. IOW, I don't want my access to AS/AE determined by my access to Legendary engrams. Because the game is simply NEVER going hand out LEs for the actiivities that----for now---are my most reliable sources of AS/AE. So you can keep calling me all the nasty names you want. It won't change the basic fact that I have a very clear understanding of what serves my own interests in the game....and the only reason why you are flummoxed by my perspective on this is because you cannot see past your own.

  • You say you want the armour/weapons from engrams, okay me too. You say some people want ascendant materials from legendary engrams, okay cool. You then turn around and say getting just the weapon/armour is bad even though you could if you wanted to break it down for the ascendant materials. How exactly is just getting the item not the best of both worlds, its the mats if you need them OR the item if you need it.

  • Because Bungie---as they demonstrated in stamping out the "Loot Cave" and the Temple of Crota/Nexus strik exploits----is always going to keep a tight rein on the number of legendary items you will encounter out in the game world. As a solo player, my access to those game activities that will award you with them directly is very limited. So I don't want my "income streams" of Legendary gear and AS/AE to MIX. Because Bungie is NEVER going to start handing out Purple engrams for completing public events. Until I've completed my arsenal, the lengendary gear that I get from levelling up my Vanguard rank and Cryptarch will be going to EQUIP my characters, and not broken down for shards. So until I can some how find a way to start raiding, my current source of shards is BY FAR my most reliable means of acquiring them...and I don't want that slowed becauuse Bungie doesn't want the game awash in legendary gear or the shards that come from breaking them down

  • I Apologize for the name calling. By giving you either ascendant materials OR legendary items it doesn't really stop the flow of either, most people I run into do exactly what I do, if the legendary they just got isn't that great they just dismantle it for the materials, but whatever I'm out of vault space for weapons anyway. If you are on 360 my friends and I will gladly run through the daily, weeklies and raid with you, we only have 5 regulars for the raid, takes us 2 hours to beat the raid each week, 1h 15m searching for a "decent" random and 45m of actual raiding (no glitches) so you'd be more then welcome.

  • Ps4, sorry. I'll break down uneeded gear as well. My point is that I'd rather have a steady, slow supply of shards than have to spin the roulette wheel in trying to got more legendary drops. I want those upgrade materials and strange coins coming for PEs and from the Cryptarch

  • I agree but in the now rare cases of getting the legendary engrams would you not rather essentialy choose between the item OR the mats? I doubt it would cause an overflow of either, considering how seldom they drop now.
