The level advantages still apply. That's the entire point of the IB vs regular crucible. a level 1 should see a level 20 for instance as a ??? target. Dealing 0 because of the "power" that our wonderful Dev is talking about.

You are missing the point.. There has to be some degree of skill coming into effect to offset the lvl differnece, otherwise there would be no point in fighting if players were so far from each other in lvl, since the higher lvl player would always win. If it was just a gear dependent game mode, they would need to have lvl tiers to balance it out, like lvl 1-9, 10-19, etc. How IB is now now, any lvl vs any lvl, skill needs to be the counterweight to balance things out, otherwise how would a lvl 5 ever have a chance against a lvl 25? This is something that doesn't need to factor into pve when players encounter really high lvl enemies.

  • A lvl 5 SHOULDNT have a chance against a lvl 25. Thats like a guy with no formal fight training/never had a fight walking into a dojo, kwoon or temple and bitch slapping the sensei, or sifu. As someone who studied martial arts I can tell you that just wont happen the guy off the street would be in for the ride of his life! Iron Banner isnt for players that low and I will say that I dont think it should be for anyone under lvl 20(no light in their armor). This is Billed by the Creators and the Lore as the best of the best of the BEST. When you put in the time, you will have the weapons and the gear that will let you come in and show with your skill you belong there. Low lvls dont belong in the Vault of Glass they dont belong in Iron Banner either. I have said it before and will say it again now. WHEN they fix it to be like it should AND add some kind of playlist so it isnt just control matches, it should be a permanent part of the crucible. a PVP endgame as it were.

  • A level 5 shouldn't be playing Iron Banner then, just as if you were level 5 you are excluded from level 20 strikes, or from going to Mars. Or a more sensible solution is as you said, tier off the levels. If a level 5 can defeat a level 30 with relative ease, how is this different to regular crucible and what of the people who put time into gearing up in anticipation for this event. Honestly, Iron Banner was the only reason I bothered getting to level 29.

  • I think you are missing the point. Level advantages are there to show the power of your gear combined with your skill as a player. Now I get that a 27 with decent gear, maybe semi upgraded legendaries and an upgraded exotic for example with semi upgraded weapons can take out a level 30 if they do it right, but a level 5 should have no hope of killing a level 30, unless the 30 just stood there and did nothing. Their armor alone would just shatter to someone with a fully upgraded AR or Scout. Lower levels should be playing in normal crucible because there is the knowledge that level 20+s will be in the IB. a 20 can still kill a 30 if they use the terrain to their advantage or have teammates helping them, hence why it's a team based gametype, but in all honesty a 30 would probably just survive long enough to wipe out the 20 assuming the level 20 is alone and attempting to duke it out with him head on. But that is not how IB is right now. In fact it's just like regular crucible where your armor is doing absolutely nothing for you and your weapons are performing the same as they would in regular crucible modes so that is why many are upset about this. IB may as well not exist and the rewards be moved to the normal loot pool.
I think you are missing the point.
No, I'm not missing anything. Every thing you just described I just addressed in my last post, and even gave solutions to scenarios you brought up, like a lvl 5 fighting a lvl 30.

  • Again you STILL DONT get it. regular crucible is for anyone under lvl 20. Iron Banner is for anyone over. A lvl 20(let alone anything higher like the lvl 30 you keep mentioning) should destroy them mercilessly. Weak lvl 5 common weapons shouldnt even scratch semi upgraded or fully upgraded armor. Weak lvl 5 commom armor should be chewed like tissue paper in the face of legendary weapons. This Iron Banner as stands isnt like that. We were told it would be as the developers themselves said to "Bring your best armor and gear, you will need them". Ok why do i need them if the starting gun is just as good as my legendary fusion rifle? Lvl 19 and under have regular crucible and Iron Banner again in Bungies words "Isnt a level playing field".

  •
Again you STILL DONT get it. regular crucible is for anyone under lvl 20. Iron Banner is for anyone over.
Is it? Is this some rule I was unaware of?
A lvl 20(let alone anything higher like the lvl 30 you keep mentioning) should destroy them mercilessly. Weak lvl 5 common weapons shouldnt even scratch semi upgraded or fully upgraded armor. Weak lvl 5 commom armor should be chewed like tissue paper in the face of legendary weapons
You're right, they shouldn't...if it was purely a gear dependent/clvl gamemode...but it isn't.....that's where player skill comes in....I already addressed this:
There has to be some degree of skill coming into effect to offset the lvl differnece, otherwise there would be no point in fighting if players were so far from each other in lvl, since the higher lvl player would always win. If it was just a gear dependent game mode, they would need to have lvl tiers to balance it out, like lvl 1-9, 10-19, etc.
and Deej hinted on it as well.
Power Matters, but so does skill.
If you want a game mode where anyone can vs anyone, there needs to be some form of balance. It can't just be based on player gear and lvl. I covered this as well:
How IB is now now, any lvl vs any lvl, skill needs to be the counterweight to balance things out, otherwise how would a lvl 5 ever have a chance against a lvl 25?
You keep saying a lvl 5 shouldn't have a chance against a lvl 30, and you are right. A lvl 5 shouldn't even be allowed to fight against a lvl 30, but they are allowed to vs each other, so there has to be a balance mechanism in place, otherwise it would be pointless to allow them to fight each other in the first place.

  • Seeing as there shouldn't even be an argument as to a 5 fighting a 30 I'll just leave It at that. Anything else I can somewhat agree on.
