well, after watching this video i would resume it in a few words: you seem to be a pretty solid player, you played tactally pretty good keeping mostly a defensive position, your enemies (don't know what level they were) on the other hand seemed to be a bit mediocre - which is also shown by the result of the game and then your team seems to have been pretty solid so overall i won't call this a proof for IB being bullsh#t but proof that also lower players can participate if they are solid and have a good team behind them ....

  • I think you're kinda missing the point. A level 4's defense and attack stats are no where near what a player in the 20's are. Yet he walks in and wrecks havoc. And according to bungie, the iron banner is "not a level playing field" where high end gear gives a very strong advantage. According to this, it's glorified reg crucible.

  • hm, i guess you did not read my post, since i just tried to analyse why he did so good, did not say anything else ... his team ended up with double the points of the others, he played defensive, had 3 or four ono on one, was mostly close to his teammates ... that was the crucial point; his enemies on one on one mostly seemed to be of low skill or not facing him in the first moment ...

I definitely read your post. But you are still missing the point. Yes he is a solid player and yes he is using good defensive technique. But if Iron banner is exactly what bungie says that it is then good technique would not save him from being two and three shot. There are several instances in the video where he is an extended firefights taking multiple bullets and still coming out on top. I just don't believe that that is what bungie intended.

so i re-watched the video and took out 5 1 on 1 he won and out of them in three the enemy not even did one hit, on the other two, he got one hit and went down to about 15-20% of health (which means he lost whole shield and 80-85% of health) one 1 on 1 he lost he got killed by two hits with a better setup he would not have died once ...

The point is the beginner weapon does 20 damage, an end game primary can do like 300, a beginner character has like 70 defense, an end game has about 1400. His bullets should be doing 300x less damage than a maxed out level 30, they aren't.

  • don't know about those numbers, but if they are right the beginner weapon needs at least 50 bullets to win over an enemy with 1000 on defense, 70 if he is maxed out let's say this is true then the video proofes that something is wrong

  • Not really, because that's how the game mode is designed to function, that's it's purpose. Like if there was a game mode where everyone can only use their most used weapon, with infinite ammo and no reload and someone in the playlist only ever used his heavy weapon when playing normally. Then that guy having a rocket launcher while everyone else has shotguns wouldn't be unfair, it'd be fittig with the game mode's description. Even ignoring defense entirely, a beginner auto vs a mythoclast will STILL do 15x less damage per round, so if it takes Mythoclast 7 bullets to kill someone it SHOULD take someone with a Khvostov at LEAST three full clips to kill that same person, And this isn't me being extreme here, the weapon damages are listed right there and in a playlist where every weapon does it's "real" damage that's how it should pan out. Now you could say that's not fair, but you could also say that the chance of someone spawning with rockets and a sniper in fiesta isn't fair, it's not a point of being fair it's a point of the game mode doing what's advertised. Fiesta your starting weapons get picked at random, so you could end up with any combination of weapons, spawn with just a magnum or rockets and sniper, it doesn't matter because that's how the game mode is supposed to work. If you go into iron banner, with a khastakov and find you're doing 20 damage against people who are doing 300, then that's not unfair, that's the game working as intended. You chose to go into the playlist with sub par equiptment, if you want to be on the same playing field then go get some legendary weapons and armour.

  • The problem is not that lower level players can participate and do well, the problem is that the promoted level/gear advantage is almost non-existent.
