It's a team based event. If you form a bad team or allow to be randomly placed on a bad team then why do you expect to get rewarded. You still get Crucible rep/marks and a chance at loot. You just don't get Iron Banner rep. This is not an event where everyone gets participation points. It's the Iron Banner! If you spent more time trying to make friends to go into the Iron Banner instead of complaining you might be rank 2-3 by now.
