Atheon “Glitch”

First of all in my opinion this is not a Glitch. Here is why, [b]Atheon freezing:[/b] Atheon does not freeze because you take him over to some special part of the map. He freezes every time he opens the time conflux “Teleporting the people in the back into the right or left portal”. This is by design, he will freeze anywhere he is standing at the time he decides to open the time conflux and teleport. [b]Falling off the Edge:[/b] You can literally knock any enemy of the edge as long as they are close enough. This is not a glitch but again a game design. We can also die from falling off ledges. [b]People just found another way to beat the boss.[/b] Is it quicker? That depends on your team.. Just like doing it the DPS grind way. People can still not get through the portal and you have to wipe over and over. He can freeze in an in opportune spot and you have to wait for the next time conflux to reposition him. [b]Should Bungie Patch it? [/b]That’s really up to bungie. However, I do agree with the other issues that should be fixed along with it. Warping only two, Splash damage issues, etc.. Feel free to comment. Positive or Negative does not matter.

  • Hell, it seems harder to throw him off now than doing it legit. I have completed it twice this week legitimately and can say that you just need a good group. It take work, but let's face it people don't like doing that anymore. I do believe that fixing the bugs would have been a better idea than listening to the crybabies though.

  • There is so many other bugs in the vault. Not teleporting 3 people for 1. Telporting kills you for another. The minotaur in the portals that gains health when you hit it is hilarious BTW. Coming out of the portals the wrong way, getting stuck in the portals and going out the portal to find youself back in the portal room, again hilarious. Also getting teleported on hard to find yourself locked in a detention cage on hard, great job On the brightside they fixed the issue of not randomising the teleport. Well Done

No wonder people lose their patience and cheese it. I only done normal, twice, and the amount of times only two got teleported is ridiculous. So is the amount of times one person goes out of the Venus gate just to cross into the Mars gate by himself...nevermind all the other problems stacked on top of that. Crazy. Don't get me wrong, difficulty is enjoyable, but only when stuff works. I would hate to be thrown back in orbit because the game isn't operating as intended. I have no idea how many hours I have to allocate for HM just to deal with such problems.

    • Honestly, I am all for people knocking him off even after the patch that added the baby bumpers. The reason for this is that doing the fight as it is intended is near impossible with the ridiculous amount of bugs present in the fight. If it was 1 or even 2 then I could understand, but there are far too many bugs present that it becomes stupidly hard to complete, not only because you actually have to complete the fight as you normally would, but you also have to hope for the teleport to work correctly and the Praetorian on Venus not to have the key to eternal life, just mentioning the 2 main bugs.

      • It honestly doesn't bother me, they can make it as hard as they want, i'm not gonna do hard raid because i get better rewards from normal. Heck i get better rewards from nightfall. It's all just topsy turvy. And it's really not necessary to do the raids... Next expansion is aimed for levels 28-32.

        • The problem that I have with these cheese methods is that they allow players who not only do not have the skill, but don't have the ability to beat atheon the "legitimate way" to get some of the best gear in the game. It takes away from the gear's value. Take the mythoclast, yes it was OP, but not as much complaining would have been done if it didn't become much more widespread from checkpoint sharing and cheesing. A level 27 is essentially useless in the fight, yet with cheese he can get all the rewards that my 29s and 30s actually worked hard to get, without lifting a finger. That's not fair to the guys I beat the raid with on hard mode who worked their asses off to get their gear. This being said I did cheese atheon a few times, beat him legit just as many. Got VM's from both methods, but I feel my gear is devalued because people can get it without lifting a darn finger. Just sit there and reap the benifits. I also think it kinda takes the fun from the fight as a bunch of times I've gone into the fight (even on normal) people refuse to try anything but cheese, and its incredibly frustrating when you just want to do it the intended way, which may even be faster. PS I still am skeptical of that new supposed cheese video sooooo ya we'll see about that one.

        • Heres an easy fix. If atheon falls off the map he doesnt give any rewards :). You can cheese him if you want but not reccomended

                • Splash damage isn't an issue with the encounter, it's an issue with you being stupid. Anytime the guy holding the relic moves, or is moved (by teammates nudging him) while shots hit the shield, you take splash damage. What does this mean? Relic guy doesn't move, NO SPLASH DAMAGE! MAGIC! ya f*ckin dope

                    • Who cares if you push him off or beat it legit. 90% of the time raid rewards are materials. The hardest challenging content gives the shittiest rewards. I've gotten better stuff from the nightfalls than I have the raids.

                      • Just did the Hard Raid today, killed Atheon legit way in just 2 Teleports. You say it's "Hard" but really it's because your lazy.

                        • If you're the type of person who thinks skipping a bosses mechanics by simply exploiting the game's mechanic to knock a boss off the edge is how the boss fight was intended to be. You sir, are the most -blam!-ing stupid person ever. In every game, at a boss fight, the mechanics aren't just their just to be there. They are there to either help you kill the boss or kill you, which you would then come up with strategy to avoid dieing! For example, Time's Vengeance during the Atheon fight is suppose to increase your damage output and instantly restore grenades, super, etc... for you to damage atheon until he has no HP left. It is not there for you to knock off a full health bar boss off the edge with it. If the bosses HP doesn't hit zero, then you are playing the fight wrong.

                          • Some of you guys are reaching and also trying to validate this method It is an exploit. Gamers can get very creative. You found a hole in the game design, and you're using it to get to the loot. I won't get into right and wrong. But this is very similar to the loot cave. We all know Bungie didn't design the boss with the intent for people to end the fight by knocking him off the ledge. They will patch it at some point. He probably just won't get so close to the edges, or the physics of the nova bomb wont effect him the same way. But you taught them a lesson, and got one over. Take advantage while you can I know i wouldn't ever do it. I play for the fun of actually going through the fight. My gear loses it's value to me personally if I don't get it in the way they designed for me to get it. The push would just cheapen the experience for me. I took pride in my 6 hour run

                            • Its funny to think that people actually believe that knocking Atheon off is a understandable method of defeating him. This is by far a glitch. And stuff like this always happens to new games. Players will always spend hours trying to figure out how to get the easy way out...instead of going through the intended grind. Same with the loot caves...who the hell thinks that standing in front of a cave for hours is fun. Before the Cryptarch patch, i already had several exotic and legendary weapons/armor. I know the drop rate sucks at times, but this is an MMO...if you want instant gratification, then go back to Borderlands. It is great that Bungie is doing the patches that they are doing. Its not like it is free for them, it costs them time and money to do so, and it forces you lazy bums to play the games the way it was meant to be played. When i see level 27-28 players beating Atheon on hard mode then yeah, they need to fix this.

                              • Agreed that anyone can be pushed off of a ledge, but those are straight up enemies all over the place. In the case of Atheon though, there's a painstakingly designed set of tasks and events that occur that an entire team has to master together to beat him. While I agree it's Bungie's bad that he's able to be pushed off, the fact that they are patching it makes it evident that this one got by them. It wasn't an intended "option" for conquering Atheon. :)

                                  I say to Bungie that they should fix there games before they tell us how to play it. Common Bungie we still have indestructible minitars, and portals that teleport us nowhere then back behind the portal!
