The only way I would be ok with a trading system is if you could only trade weapons and armor and you had to trade items of equal value (e.g. exotic primary's could only be traded for other exotic primary's) and all purchased upgrades for that item are reset with no refund on shards/energy or materials. This would prevent any sort of real money black market and make the trading more regulated preventing people from just giving away items.
