The Primordial Gods are also seen as forces of nature, which is also how Toland refers to the Darkness: as an entity that exists because it does, because its existence is stronger than any others, without any 'reason' behind it. Of course, I also believe the narrator in the grimiore card was the Traveler, not Rasputin. That's just me though.
