Activision:If we can't run a game into the ground we dont want it

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2008/11/activision-if-we-cant-run-a-game-into-the-ground-we-dont-want-it/ Old article, but the same CEO has been there since 2001 which means the same or worse values still dictate the entire company. His view is simple, if they can't exploit a game, and rerelease it year after year, or hold back content to sell later it's not worth it to them. He believes in ripping off gamers essentially, and that "if it were my choice, I'd make them pay even more!" Without a doubt, I believe that ALL of the DLC has been completed and is on disc and you would be a blind sheep to believe otherwise. The maps are there, the ghosts are there (just not activated, a 100kb code "switch"), in Kings Watch the enemies were even there in the beta! All thats missing is literally copy-paste spawn code and activation of mission items/triggers. The things to activate are already all there too, since they are just copied from elsewhere in this tiny game. They are working on the next round right of DLC now, the stuff for next year after the majority have left this game. They will release another 2 DLC with just a couple raids, few more levels, and some new items to get players back. When it dies down again, DLC 3, 4, on and on just rehashing the same shit on a different day. Bungie singed a 10-year contract, and this game is going to go from everything people ever wanted to just a running joke. (almost there!) Destiny Continued (2). Destiny Unfolding (3). Destiny 10, the story you stil dont -blam!-ing understand. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Kotick In part this can be attributed to advocating a business strategy focused on only developing intellectual property which can be, in his words, "exploited" over a long period, to the exclusion of new titles which cannot guarantee sequels.[16] In responding to why Activision Blizzard chose not to publish certain games following the Activision/Blizzard merger, he stated that focusing on franchises that "have the potential to be exploited every year on every platform with clear sequel potential and have the potential to become $100 million franchises" has "worked very well for Activision Blizzard". Kotick described this business strategy as "narrow and deep" or "annualizable" and cited it as key to attracting development talent who may not be drawn to "speculative franchises".[17] Kotick also created a stir when commenting on Activision Blizzard's peripheral-driven franchises. During Activision Blizzard's Q2 2009 financial results conference, Kotick was challenged over his "comfort level" around high prices attached to "new games that have some expensive controllers" and said, "if it was left to me, I would raise the prices even further."[18] While Spong took the comment at face value,[19] Gamesindustry.biz thought the comment was a joke, but could be seen as "insensitive at a time when consumers are likely to be feeling the economic pinch".[20] A frequent complaint from the gaming press is the gap between Kotick and Activision's chief consumers. Ars Technica editor Ben Kuchera wrote, "Kotick doesn't play his games, and it shows."[16] Video game developer Tim Schafer said Kotick "doesn't have to be as much of a dick" in his attitude towards Activision's customers. All in all, I'll be getting my platinum this week since the normal raid is a cakewalk now and this game is sold. I don't agree with how Activision is ran, and how Bungie is handling this game since release. I don't agree on punishing PvE players for PvP problems, they should be completely separate. However, Destiny is just a space age CoD with a shitty story attached (-blam!-, Ghosts had a more engrosing story than this!) and it's being ran like such; catering to PvP-centric kids who just want a K/D and ebragging rights, because having the best ratio in FPS PVP is really all that matters in life.
