The problem is that their goals for balanced pvp and decent pve are in direct opposition to each other.
PVP should have both a balanced Arena (Crucible) and a Straight up as it is Arena (Iron Banner) - It fails at both. The combat math is so messed up that nothing makes any sence. Personally I think (for crucible) any single round weapon (or shotgun) should be a one hit kill and burst weapons should be a one burst kill (in both cases provided the shot is to the head). The most fun pvp ever was Marathon when most weapons could one shot us, it was pure joy and adrenaline. This game is 90% frustration.
PVE needs to reward higher levels. It does the exact opposite. Enemies we should just frakkin wail on get super powered dodge skills as WE get higher level, and start running away and hiding. If anything the game was easier by far when we just got here. The most fun boss was the first frakkin archon we fought!!! As it is level and gear mean NOTHING when it come to PVE advantage. Bigger bosses don't mean anything when it comes to drops. Reward system - what reward system. Hell there are like 4 or 5 cool cloaks for hunters and the rest look like shit! There should be 1000 cloaks, it's just a frakkin skin!!!! There should be 1000 shaders too!!! Every single game mechanic seems designed to drag the game out and make everything take forever, as though that would fool us into thinking there was more content.
All of this is super annoying because grinding for better gear is ALL THIS GAME HAS TO OFFER.
