Alarming amount of DLC areas, and then the forgotten about doors?

Is it just me, or are people finding and accessing DLC areas at an alarming rate? I get that these are just "placeholders" (Quotation marks for a purpose) but I'm starting to get a little worried. Most of these areas are fairly significant, and there isn't anything in them, except for a couple of places that have Dead Ghosts that give you -null- grimoire cards. I, myself, am starting to get really worried about how many DLC areas are turning up and being accessed (I think it's like 5 now, but I could be wrong?) Speaking of DLC areas, am I the only one left who is still wondering what's up with the Ghost being able to open certain doors on the Moon? Don't know what I'm talking about? Head into the Hellmouth, find a random closed door, and open pull out your Ghost. What the hell are they for? I thought they'd be used to access some new areas, seeing as they were initially found in the Beta, but seeing as there is nothing as of yet, and they just show those black areas that you can't access (the kind that usually spawns enemies, the doors of which I hate) and it brings me to wondering what they're actually for? Maybe they'll turn up in the future? I sure as hell hope so. For the time being though, the DLC areas and the openable doors are just two things that not only concern me, but show that Destiny as a whole, is unfinished. I really am not able to wait till the DLC comes out to actually access those areas, knowing that they're there, and I can't get there. It frustrates me. Hopefully we'll get told what's happening with these places, but for now, I'm both concerned, worried, and curious.

  • The game has a 10 YEAR plan. It makes sense for them to put in stuff that doesn't work as expected yet. Think about it. It makes more sense to have a door that at the moment does nothing, compared to suddenly putting a door in the middle of a wall that wasn't there before.

    • those arernt placeholders, those are placed game assets. locked out to be re-sold to everyone becaue Activi$ion said so. what else do they need to do to finish those areas ?! place enemies, and things for dinklebot to scan so a door can open ? that takes how long ?? ffs how many weapons are already known to drop in these "new " areas. how is this possible if not datamined right off the disc some examples http://db.destinytracker.com/inventory/item/2809229973 http://db.destinytracker.com/inventory/item/3490486524 http://db.destinytracker.com/inventory/item/2681212685 http://db.destinytracker.com/inventory/item/3399255907

      • Dont forget the closed off area towards the end of the black garden. Right after you pass the giant vex cannon you turn left to go down to the heart, or go right to an open area and a light barrier blocking off another area. If you run into the barrier you get thrown back like a slingshot

Of course it's unfinished but Don't worry. Down the road the maps will hopefully open up more and more with the expansions turning it into more of an open world. It wouldn't make sense to give everything away on day one. They still need to write the missions, create cut scenes and attempt to build a story. Destiny's story is lacking now so if we had all these places open without content or context, people would bitch more than they already are.

          • At least 2 on each planet. One for raid and one for missions/strikes.

            • A lot of the doors in hell mouth are just spawn generators, often only used once in a story mission. As for placeholders, there would be a game plan of 6 - 12 months of ideas going forward on where Bungie want to take the game. Unfinished? No, the game feels complete, just at the moment not as expansive as hype would allow. If you invest in the long run then the game will eventually grow with plenty of content. You can complain all you want on DLCs just being a cash in, but if you do, then go and buy 2 or 3 new games a month then surely you're spending more money that way! The game hasn't been out long and it's got a long gameplan, where it goes is anyone's guess!
