My group has always done the Templar without going to the outside towers, its not that hard. I really don't see how this is a big issue. Is there something that the Templar is doing to make you fail? I think it's better this way, because let's be honest here; the raids are only going to get harder as more expansions are released. Might as well build a talent on how to handle situations like this. Bungie stated that the raid was to be challenging. And they have the power to change the game as they see fit. With that said, if they want it difficult, then it shall be difficult.

  • You said its easy(which it is)but then you said it should be hard so they make you do it that way.

  • Just one thought: Is something still hard once you know how to handle it? I know I said that its easy but that's because we figured it out after the 50th squad wipe. My group had tried the raid as soon as it came out. We double checked if we were set and ready to go. None of us knew what we were going to do but one. And he only knew how to open the door to get inside. We marched blindly into the Templar's battle arena and got destroyed. None of the objectives were too hard knowing it was simple defense. What we learned quickly though we're the Fanatics. I believe the playing field looks great (could use a little more cover but that's my opinion). I think the towers were created solely for the Hobgoblins to make the challenge even more difficult. There are many places in many different games where the AI can stand in a location where you can't reach. I think it's great that people can find an easier way to do something, but if it goes against the main intention of the developers, it will be fixed. For example: The loot cave. A kill volume wasn't placed but they reduced the spawn time. That stopped pretty much everyone from going there. Gearbox patched the digistruct peak exploit that allowed players to fight the final boss in a flash. (Borderlands 2) There is only one remaining fact about this whole topic and that is to live with the change, find another way.
This is all what I think of the Templar alone. I don't want to get into more details. This is just my overall general opinion. You don't need to believe in this at all. All I ask is to hear me out.
• Your post seems to ignore the point of the thread. You seem to be overly focused on the platforms instead of the design logic and design philosophy behind allowing them or patching them in a less heavy handed manner vs how they did patch them.

  • I was never focused in the level design in the first place. Just the towers.

  • I was pointing out that the change to the platforms are a symptom of a troubling design philosophy. My clan still does the encounter the 'right' way, it's not difficult, but I don't like the precedent it might be setting for the future. There are dozens of other 'safer' sniping spots in Story missions and Strikes... should those get kill zones, too?

  • If these spots are intended, then yes.

  • Intended for what?

  • Sniping or a ranges attack of some sort. I believe if the enemy can't reach you, then put a kill barrier. If they can, leave it be.

If the issue is enemies not being able to reach you, wouldn't a patch that lets enemies attack you there be better than shrinking the map with kill zones?

  • It would be the equivalent of bungie removing the stone pillars you hide behind. Sure, its there and you and your team devised the tactic of hiding behind there because it worked. Now just imagine they made that a kill zone, then what? Bungie is basically punishing players for coming up with tactics. And you got to think about this: some cry baby complained about the sniper towers because it made it to easy. Give it some time and someone will complain about hiding behind the pillars, or hiding in the back in the caves to the point where we will all have to stand in the bit with the cleansing light.

  • Not the point of this discussion... He's not talking about difficulty, he's taking about bungie approaching this incorrectly...
