Raid exploits?

Thoughts on raid exploits? Is it cheating? First off I am not trying to tell anyone how to play their game. Personally I feel that if you've beaten it and gotten the true "experience" of the raid, exploit away and get those upgrade mats and drops. Just curious to see how others feel about it.

  • Well to me there are: 1) outright cheats - like using additional software to change the game experience completely. More prevalent on PCs than on consoles 2) Adapting to the game - like knowing where spawns happen and hitting them early, or that they will follow you along a certain path. This can include things like shooting from the character spawn room rather than going into the fight area. Destiny has this in the Phogoth strike and the game developer tries to prevent it with the shrieker. 3) Minor "exploits" that are readily accessible - here I am thinking of things like in the Archon Priest, being able to go under the platform or the sniper perch. Or in Valu'as Tuarc, hiding in the crates. These areas are not tricky to get into and might even be deliberately there by the developer. 4) Major exploits to me are things that you can do but you can tell the game designers never intended. This would be things like the sniper platforms in the raid which Bungie shut down quickly. 5) Outright exploits to me are really egregious things. This would be like pushing Aethon off the edge. Granted, what's the difference between "Major exploits" and "outright exploits". I don't know. Pushing Aethon off the edge feels completely wrong yet somehow I am okay with sniping at the templar and ignoring the oracles. I guess on the templar, you at least have to have the skill to get the relic back over there. Granted, it is a moot issue since they prevent that now. I guess my feelings, to address your statement of "you've beaten it and gotten the true experience, then exploit away," I feel differently. You earned the reward you got for that raid. You have to redo the raid to earn the next reward, you are not entitled to freebie rewards. Now that isn't to say that you can't learn from each raid how to do it quicker each time. Heck, I was stronger in this week's raid already due to higher level and raid weapons from last raid. Anyway, just my opinion since you asked.
