Are we Dr. Shim? Who is he? When you enter the archive it mentions his name. Is the archive addressing you by name or is that the only welcome greeting it has? If it addresses by name that would imply that you were Dr. Shim before the collapse.

Edited by ybcuz: 10/17/2014 7:54:51 PMI dunno, but after reading a lot of threads on the subject, and the correspond Grimoire cards (Ghost Fragment: Vex 1 - 3), I'm beginning to wonder: are humans homoVexual?

I think it's just the computer addressing whoever is there, I don't think it's specifically you. Maybe when Dinklebot hacked the door he triggered Dr. Shim's access code, so the computer thinks you're him. If you'd like to pull out your tin foil hat, we can get into speculation. There's a theory that the entire game world is nothing more than a Vex simulation, run by a Vex specimen that Dr. Shim was experimenting with pre-collapse. So the computer addresses you as Shim because that's the only point of reference the Vex mind has for someone entering the Archive. Pretty shaky theory, and I don't subscribe to it myself, but there it is.

If I'm not mistaken, Dr. Shim was the lead of a research team that investigated the Vex on Venus. The team discovered that the Vex were capable of running sims that perfectly matched events occurring in real time - bringing into question whether they were themselves "real" or merely a part of a vex simulation themselves. I don't recall the conclusion.

Played any Gears of War Judgment (I think)? The AI security address you as the owner of the house/facility thing which you are not. (Sorry for the vagueness, its been awhile) The AI security is programmed to address the operator or owner. You are not Dr. Shim. :)
