The ship doesn't fly backwards :) it is actually braking. The "flying backwards effect" that we experience is pretty much like when we are riding an elevator and thinking "wow, is the building moving and I'm just standing still?" Long story short, the ship is braking BUT the planet, or the Moon, under it keeps rotating, hence the braking sensation...mmm, did I make any sense at all? :)
