Very well written. The one thing i have doubts on is that we as guardians are the good guys, that light is infinitely good. Maybe i misread something, but Rasputin is there to defend Earth, not mankind. And what i interpreted is that Rasputin let down his shield to let humanity die by the darkness, leaving Earth intact and fulfilling his mission. BUT, the Traveler (called the Gardener by Rasputin) did not follow through with Rasputin's plan, and protected a small area of humanity. The darkness left (whether by injury, starvation, or led away by light generated by the death of many people and that light launched into space for the darkness to chase), and Rasputin went into hiding. But why did he go into hiding and whom is he hiding from. If Rasputin was working with the Traveler, why would he hide from it, and why does the Traveler (or Dinklebot) want access to Rasputin (while Rasputin locks Dinklebot out). I think Rasputins plan for when the Darkness comes back is to finish off the Traveler and the rest of human kind. If Darkness feeds on light, what would happen to it if the source of light (the Traveler) were to disappear? Wouldnt the darkness leave to find more of which it feeds on, less it starve to death? (Which would leave the Earth intact and protected?) If light was soo good, then why do the Fallen attack it? Wouldnt they work with the Traveler if they knew this, or are they blinded by hate? (I dont mention the other races because i dont feel they are after the Traveler of those spawned by light, and i can go more into this should someone like my view on that) Im going to reread the theory, but i just dont feel that we are the good guys, and that Rasputin is working in the best interest of Earth, not us (as AI tend to follow strict logic that leads to its victory condition, and protecting Earth does not mean protecting us).

  • I can't see how were bad guys. Each race follows their own little pseudo religion. The hive have a king God. The vex despite being machines actually have a god they worship and what you kill was just a fragment of that. The fallen have archon priests and high servitors that they rely on to survive. Read why servitors are necessary to fallen survival. The traveler was the God for humanity in this Sci fi and while not all these races are say apart of the darkness, we're all at war. When om Mars, the cabal, a military state was trying to take what Rasputin was defending and a little ghost trying to access it wouldn't mean he'd budge. Your ghost had also said that you needed to find a way to contact Rasputin. Arrays are down and most means of interstellar communication, maybe Rasputin for all intents and purposes has a hard time actually making any contact and instead forms simulation s and protects items of great value across what few planets he can reach

  • Considering "he's everywhere now", i dont think it would be that hard to communicate with him. Considering he's an AI, he would receive communication instantaniously. And, again, because hes everywhere now, i dont see relays actually being down. Least not for Rasputin. Either that or the one relay that you opened on earth allowed him to contact all other AI hubs. But i dont see why Rasputin wouldnt have access to those relays, to turn them on or off at will. The religious point is an interesting thought. Maybe were not the "bad guys", but i can firmly say we (nor the traveler) are good guys. When it comes to it, the Darkness feeds upon the light the Traveler generates (and all other sources of light). And hence why the other races (especially the Fallen) hate the Traveler and us. Were like lightbulbs moths, attracting the Darkness in full force, even though we dont mean to. No one knows how to defeat the Darkness other than overwhelming it (if it even can be). That requires many deaths, since the Traveler generates light from death (or the death of everyone perhaps). Is it wrong for the Fallen to fight against their own death? Alot of this we just wont know until we finally meet Rasputin. And it will be on his terms. i cant help but feel we will have to face off against him, and who knows what that outcome will mean. Im just hoping it isnt anticlimactic like the final showdown was with Ulysses was in Fallout NV.
