The raid system (Vault), alone, is enough for me to put Destiny over Borderlands. It's by far the best content when comparing both games. Beyond the Vault, both games are kind of meh in my book.
One of these days a developer is going to take aspects of both games and make a game that trumps both Destiny and borderlands. Destiny has good content, but the game is really lacking in many departments (immersion, loot, overall content, etc). I've sunk some decent time into it, but Im really at the point where I'm not sure why I keep playing, there is nothing meaningful to do anymore.

Look up Star Citizen. That looks like the most ambitious title ever and I hope desperately they can pull it off. Aside from that I disagree with you, I mean the vault was fun but it's so restrictive, and even if every mission was on the vaults level however I would still go with borderlands.

When I take a step back, and analyze the time I have put into both games, there is an X-factor that has kept me coming back to one of them. The Vault. Because of that, I have to give Destiny the nod as being the better of the two. I do agree to some extent it's "limited", but I also feel it's innovative. It is a true raid experience inside an FPS that hasn't really been done before. Not like this anyway.. Ill look into that game you mentioned though. I really wish a developer like Blizzard would make take on thr MMOFPS genre. Can you imagine a WoW-like fps (or some other successful MMO on the market)? An actual immersive world. A genuine social experience. A meaningful, layered, loot system. Numerous dungeons and raids that arent mind-numbing and incorporate mechanics not unlike the Vaults? A game like that would blow both Destiny and Borderlands out of the water.

I never liked WoW because of it's art style and setting so my experience is limited in that respect and so far what I've seen that is somewhat similar to what your saying is Defiance which isn't all that great

Defiance sucks.
