In 2 the story had more momentum - but that just meant you were basically just playing through the story. The first one had more emergent action. And I like the rough-n-ready nature of the first game - 2 was too safe and polished by comparison. Both damn good games though.

I much prefer 2 because the combat is improved the loot is so much cooler(though I do wish they would have kept the bl1 gun models along with the added models) the story(duh),the humor was most certainly improved,and side quests got a lot better because they didn't have people talking to you during the firsts side quests.
