I am aware that the stats are available and that Warlocks have the least amount of armor defense. That seems to be the only area that is not comparable. Both other classes have higher defense. But Warlocks have higher intelligence points generally. And this is a hold over from the RPG blend.
I guess what I am getting at, is that it doesn't matter. With the class perks that you get you are more than able to hold your own in any situation. There is no part of the game where as a Warlock, I have to say to myself, " I can't go there, I don't have enough defensive armor points." The game is not designed that way.
Case in point, last Tuesday, I did the Nightfall strike alone. No fireteam, just me. At no point did how many armor points I have play into the way I played. What did factor in was my ability to self resurrect. I actually would have played less aggressively had I been using a Titan or Hunter.
The traditional RPG elements are there on the surface, but they seem to make little or no difference overall. So what, a Titan can take 2 more bullets than a Warlock? I can raise myself from the dead and unleash 6 or so grenades immediately after with an temporary armor bonus and flaming wings. I have armor that lets me resurrect my friends faster, speeds up my grenades recharge rate, increases ammo capacity, and helps with class perks, either Void walker or Sunsinger. And interestingly enough, so do the other classes. The defense aspect doesn't seem to matter overall.
This is one area the Bungie got it right on. At least in my opinion.
