Disagree, I do just fine as a warlock. We don't need crazy armor abilities as were like space mages. With blink I can teleport out of any dangerous situation, or right into somebody's face and let off a shotgun blast, finished off with a melee to regenerate all my health. We're plenty fine, I think you're just doing it wrong.
