Borderlands doesn't have an rng system my friend. The loot from enemies and bosses are based on percentage rate drops. Meaning that So and So has a 5% chance to drop a gun making it farmable, as appose to Destiny where you can just win the lottery by being lucky that your numbers matched whatever loot it is.
And the random gun combinations serve a purpose. Certain attachments give buffs to a gun whether it being an increase in damage or range. So MOSTLY(aside from legendaries) no two guns are the same.
And Borderlands DOES have multiplayer :) ever since number 1. Up to four players can be in a game and do whatever in PvE like in Destiny

Ehh theres PvP but its not like a MAIN aspect of the game. Its just like a quick 1v1 xD
