Destiny only needed one: gameplay.
Destiny gameplay is on a totally different league, it just severely lacks content and story.
The fact that so many complainers still play and post on the forums proves this.

People complain because of a lack of good next gen games to play. That will change.

That's right, but my point was, destiny didn't need 2 reasons to give an arguably better experience than borderlands. The gameplay is that good.

Subjective reasons don't make up for 5 they count for one because I prefer Borderland's gameplay over Destiny's you still have 1/5 and very far away from earning a cookie.
