How Raid Loot Should Be Handled

With years and years of loot based games to learn from, I cannot fathom why Bungie thought the loot system in its current state was a good idea and something players would fine enjoyable in the long run. Anyways, for those who may not be familiar with the raid, loot is completely RNG, like most of the game. This means that for every loot drop encounter, a few random members of your fireteam will receive actual gear while everyone gets some Ascendant Shards/Energy. The gear received is also random so in theory, the more you play and complete the raid, the harder it becomes to get the final pieces of loot you may require due to RNG. Now, having a reason to keep playing is not a bad thing, but what is bad is the fact that there is nothing you can do when all you get is duplicate raid pieces or even worse simply nothing at all, despite the time/effort you've put in. There are so many ways to fix this system that have already been implemented in prior games. Below is one of the more common ways loot is handled and in my opinion, the best way to correct Destiny's crap system: THE FIX: Have special raid engrams for each gear slot drop from bosses/events that are not class-specific. Three of these could randomly drop at the end of each boss/event and all fireteam members then have to option per item to claim "Need", "Want", "Pass". A simple, "Hold X for Need", "Hold Y for Want", etc. could be used. After everyone votes on each item, the item is randomly given to each players who claimed "Need". If no one needed, the item is randomly given to the players who chose "Want". If no one wants, the item randomly goes to someone in the group. If you select "Pass" or you don't get an item you attempted to claim, you get shard/energy. If you receive an engram, it automatically is decoded into the raid gear slot it corresponded to for the class you are currently playing with. Weapons would still drop as well, but can be voted on as well. WHY IT WORKS: 1. Fireteams will have the ability to communicate with each other and have greater control over the progression of teammates in terms of raid gear/light levels. Some fireteam members may pass on an item they don't have so that another teammate who has less gear can reach higher light levels and therefore be of more use. 2. This system prevents players from receiving duplicates of one slot while other team members who needed the slot get nothing. 3. You don't feel cheated. There is still RNG in regards to which slot engrams will drop for, but you have better odds of getting it...especially if you know your team. If someone on your group has taken part in several raids and really needs an item, you can pass on gear for them and vice versa. 4. If Bungie is will really so bent on making us grind, they can have less engrams drop so we can only slowly outfit team members. This will drag out our loot hunt a little longer, but will still give us some better control and fairness in getting raid drops. 5. If your group is random and everyone hits "Needs" because they're jerks or simply do need the items...well...that's no different than the system in place right now as the gear will randomly be issued. Thoughts? If you have any ideas for a better loot system, please share and thanks for reading.
