Need some clarification on energy drain, embrace the void, the hunger, sould rip, and the like...

Been very curious about the mechanics and have yet to find any real clarification on this topic or anything really relating to it other than peoples comments on the subject without any actual claims of testing it to see if any of their claims were even true or not. So im really here just to try and better understand more about how energy drain and everything related to it works Firstly im just looking for the best way to utilize embrace the void for voidwalkers. I get what each of the mentioned abilities should work when you use the ability energy drain, but if my nades and my nova trigger energy drain does that count as an actual application of the ability in itself, in short proccing all the possible effects that one could proc by simply using the actual ability energy drain? I figure as long as you see the energy drain text pop up then it counts, but it doesnt seem to work out in some testing, while it does feel like it works with stuff like say soul rip if i trigger energy drain with my grenades. Ill list my experiences with the use of embrace the void shortly, so please correct me and fill me in on anything i may have missed please and ty. My observations so far on using the different abilities that relate to energy drain: Ive run with embrace the void for some time and like it however it works, i cant really say for sure its working with soul rip, but it seems to be considering that it seems a kill reduces the cool down on my nova use. Once energy drain is applied i see the text regardless of how i apply it and i can tell that the nova bomb bar lights up a bit ahead of the end, and then starts to fill up after the initial amount added from the kill of a mob. Now where i get lost is if the hunger has any affect on this i just cant seem to tell. Ive tried life steal and since i didnt realize we had health in the game, but just a shield like in older halo titles, i dont know what im looking for to see my health get recovered because my shield certainly doesnt get recovered i know that much. The one thing i do know that doesnt work tho is surge since i dont notice any increase in movement speed with nades, but i believe i do when i use the melee to apply energy drain. I also dont seem to really see any difference in the cool down speed of the grenades, its so slow to begin with i cant say. I cant even tell if the hunger really actually does anything at all other than keep the text on the screen longer. The real questions specifically the relation between certain skills and the difference between them and their effects: I cant really figure out for myself if nova bomb has the ability to cool its self down since it applies energy drain technically, which cools down grenades sorta, because it doesnt seem to do so just like nothing besides the nades or melee seem to benefit from soul rip. Also does the type of nova bomb used affect anything or the type of grenade used? And if the energy drain effect isnt the same thing as energy drain itself what does that mean about all the things that work off "energy drain" without reference to it being specific to only the ability and not the "effect" or vice versa? Lastly does the more enemies that get hit by said energy drain effect have any effect on the skills, or is it simply just one effect no matter how many things are hit by any given thing that can cause energy drain to be applied?

 • Sadly, the energy drain melee and energy drain effect are separate. Life steal and soul rip wont activate with ability damage using embrace the void. I would recommend picking your favorite of life steal or soul rip and build from there. Two amazing builds are vortex warlock and grenade spam warlock. For vortex, just use vortex nades, anhiliate, and vortex mastery as well as the vortex nova bomb upgrade. My favorite is the nade spam build. Use axiom bolts, the hunger, and embrace the void. Axiom bolts nearly always hit so it is guarranteed damage which starts the energy drain effect. The hunger doubles the energy drain time and that is going to get you more nades faster. The exotic helm "skull of dire ahamkara" doubles the speed of nade cooldown on the energy drain effect which makes it even more potent. Used in conjuction with the afformentioned build with high discilline, you gain nearly half of your next nade just doing damage with the nade you just threw.
