I do believe Actvision made Bungie cut up the game, but not to sell DLC. I think Activison held back parts of Destiny because of last gen consoles. Maybe Bungie wasn't initially planning on releasing on last gen, but then ACT decided to change that because the new systems were still very young and expensive leading to very few owners during production. In response to this, ACT wanted to make sure sales where up, so they went to Bungie and made deal to port to last gen.
Unfortunately I believe Bungie was okay with this at 1st, but based on their track record they soon bit off more then they can chew and ended up having to remove content to insure a stable build for last gen. Both Bungie and ACT knew they couldn't release 2 different versions because last gen fans would feel betrayed over the fact they are getting less of a game and if they acknowledge that they made changes based on this, current gen owners would feel cheated out of that magical " Next Gen AAA Title" they where so dearly promised.
Basically I believe we are not going to get the "Destiny Experience" until after the 2 expansion pack are dropped because by then the current gens will have built up a big enough base were ACT will feel safe enough to drop last gen support and move on to fully support the PS4/X1 ports.
Also Sorry if it seems like I attacked last gen owners, I wasn't trying too.Like many others before, I Have been in that weird purgatory/twilight gap between gens where it seems like all support for your system is dropped and games seem lower quality and released father and farther apart until the bay-blade game sold at chucke cheeses becomes the final nail in the last gen coffin , but this gen they have been sticking to selling games to as many consoles as possible. Though this isn't initially a bad thing , I believe this is holding others games back because publishers are trying to push the bar, but also trying to keep as few differences, besides graphics and FPS, between all the ports to keep fans appeased.
This is my opinion and you don't have to agree with it or think this fact.
There's some theories to support that idea. For instance ... if you shoot a Skiff or any PvE dropship with Thorn the entire thing gets the glow effect, meaning the entire ship took damage. Meaning once upon a time they were intended to be destructible. On new gen consoles that might fly but on old gen it would probably create a lot of havok with people's FPS.

Edited by Leo687: 10/27/2014 9:11:34 AMSee of this was the case I'm sure bungie would have done out and said so especially now when they have lil to lose seeing as they have made the games production cost back and then some. It's just a rumour but I did see a few posts and apparently a very different script for the story. and one reasoning behind losing a lot of it was that the story was believed to be complicated and hard to understand which feels a lil insulting. but after the Nerf dis nerf dat threads maybe they where right.

It would be more understandable if this were the case, but Destiny was in production way before the Xbone and PS4 was announced even to developers. What the current gen actually recieved was a graphically upgraded port.

Look for the YouTube video "…Don't Buy The Dark Below or House of Wolves Destiny DLC Expansion Packs Because Destiny is Bad". It pretty much mentions what OP is saying (and more).

I believe that I think your a pretty smart person makes sense to me honestly

Edited by KIngJS922: 10/27/2014 6:13:40 AMI dont think thats the case. At all. Maybe not allowing the ships that drop off enemies to explode and shit like that, but as far as gutting story and content, no.

Didn't know you could copy/paste audio into written word. +1 for revolutionizing plagiarism. -2 for doing it a week after the video was the subject of 4,375,309 posts here. Minus -1 for begging for long face's attention. And finally -5 for thinking bungie wasn't all aboard with activisions plan to exploit millions of gamers with misinformation and blatant lies like "rich cinematic story telling". -6/10

Idc what they did or why they did it...I will happily give bunjivision my money!!

Nice insight. I can see why Bungie wouldn't want to bring this to light as it might offend 360 and psn owners and turn the community against each other.

In reply nba2k14&15 last Gen my player modes are different and the new Gen has the park which old gens don't. Bungie could have made a watered down version in which the new Gen had a few things last gens don't.

This post is false.

If I remember correctly, when they first announced it, it was announced to be ps4 and xbone only. Pretty sure they never said anything about PS3 and 360 until they got close to launch.
-
I'm pretty sure that this game was advertised for both gens from the beginning
