Persistent online is and always has been a bad idea. It's especially bad when you take into account your horrifically unstable PS3 servers that makes Destiny unplayable for anyone with 10Mbps or less.
Want to watch the Reef cut-scene? Well you can't because you have just been disconnected from Destiny servers and guess what you can only watch them once per character. Fantastic.
Got to the end of your single player Campaign mission? Oops you have been disconnected from Destiny servers, guess you have to restart from the beginning again.
Do you know what's a great idea? Having a checkpoint system that saves your progress when you disconnect that isn't only for Raids. But that's crazy talk. If you disconnect you can just redo the campaign missions, they don't take long to complete and aren't a very important aspect to computer games these days anyway.
I know you are trying your best to solve issues with servers but when you can't play the game itself nearly 2 months after release you know you have a system that doesn't work. it's a disgrace.
Your PS4 servers are stable and I have very rarely been disconnected from them however the majority of my friends play on the PS3 so I can't play your "Friends only events" (VoG) with anyone but randoms.
Destiny is a failure of what it was supposed to be. I blame Activision for not allowing more time to complete the original vision of Destiny, forcing you to cut most of the game away and rewrite the story.
This video explains it far better and should be spread throughout the community:

I still care about Destiny, I have enjoyed it for the most part and hopefully somewhere down the line you can fit in the original vision of the game? Who knows.
If anyone reading this is thinking about purchasing DLC, Don't. DLC that costs half the price of the full game yet contains less than half of the original games content is despicable and should not be condoned. Don't let companies get away with this crap because it will just get worse.

The game is online because it is an online based game and bungie don't want people exploiting it while offline then joining in with all of the best gear. Grow some balls and deal with it
