Went to my local EB yesterday... so many returned copies of Destiny. What future for Destiny?

It was ridiculous how many copies there were. Even a bunch of fully clad collector and ghost edition formats. These were people who bought the marketing, bought the hype, bought the game - and have promptly returned it. To be honest I thought gripes about Destiny not lasting past December far-fetched. But I swear I saw over 50 returned copies in one CBD EB games, and that says nothing to how many more they had out back. This is a really worrying sign for the games long term future. The gunplay is great. The story is (what story?) abysmal. The matchmaking is non-existent. The customisation options promised are Eva Lavantés two shaders. The colour of almost every ship is poop brown. And the stuff ups with engrams, RNG and over-zealous nerfing have pushed a lot of early players over the edge. It feels like there is a lack of content and a lot of cut content - far from what was 'promised' by E3 reveals and marketing. What now? tl;dr The game appears to be in trouble - is there any way Destiny can come back from this? What would Destiny need to do to 'save' this game for you, and keep you playing for the next 10 years? What keeps you playing now? EDIT: Wow, a lot of hate in here. Calm the blam! down. Please be constructive if you have the capacity. Some are telling me this is no big deal, others are saying it's sympotatic of the disappointment Destiny has been. Who knew there'd be differences in a gaming community hey? If you're going to comment don't be a donkey about it - leave your entitled sarcasm at the door. EDIT 2: Dark Below DLC released for December 9th, but only comes with 3 new story missions :/ http://planetdestiny.com/new-dark-details-release-date/

  • The game was advertised to be for everyone and was over-hyped on that basis to be an absolute masterpiece. We got a game for a community used to the idea of grinding and the idea that a patch can create new and potentially game-breaking bugs. Doesn't help much that Bungie's focusing on things that can be viewed as exploits and overall QoL and stability of gameplay instead of big flashy "Here! Everyone gets good stuff, pat on your back good sir!". The recent patches are viewed negatively for these things. A) Cave farm, there are more efficient ways, but nope! I'm going to sit at a cave! (Silly fools, they know not the real tasty methods/areas.) B) Templar snipes, "It was never meant to be easy". All that's needed in my opinion, it's Endgame content, not your quick run through Taco Bell. C) Vex Mythoclast, This one was a major boon to the overall QoL in-game! Making other primary weapons viable over the AR Master Race (I love my Vanquisher VIII, but I wanted to have a reason to enjoy my other weapons as well for differing builds.). However the Vex nerf was a serious loss in PvE and everyone's still rustled in the jimmy despite the fact Bungie's saying there's a re-buff coming and that balance changes are a thing in live games for a reason. Another flaw in this update was the maintained superiority of the Suros. D) Mostly said many QoL changes are coming, however this one also hit like a truck to many, but this is a RAID. Made for hard-core players and not for the weak/faint of heart.
