Yes but the exclusive Strikes can also be seen as free bonus content on PS4. Both consoles are paying for the same content. Playstation just gets a free bonus.

  • It is what it is, but as it stands right now $20 on the PS4 buys you more content than $20 on the Xbox One. It's not cool either way you look at it. And you know darn well if the situation was reversed, you would be at least a little upset about it. I understand that business is business and that Sony paid for this exclusivity, but it doesn't mean I have to like it.

  • If the situation was reversed than I would have bought it for my Xbox One. Also by that analogy the $60 price tag of Destiny does not buy the same content.

  • Aren't I? From the start if you bought Destiny on Xbox One for $60 you were not getting the same content if you bought it for Playstation 4. So the 1 year exclusive content was from the beginning, every knew this from the start. So why is it again a issue because Playstation is getting more exclusive content?

  • It's an issue again because DLC is not the same as purchasing a full game. There are pre-order bonuses all the time for games, and PS4 getting a couple guns and 1 strike is no different in my opinion than a pre-order type of bonus - you see this with many games including Assassin's Creed. However to continue to give those same bonuses it becomes a problem. People are willing to overlook the first initial purchase bonuses, because they are essentially "pre-order" type of bonuses. When people start having problems is when they are continually spending the same amount for less content. In the end it would never effect my purchase of an Xbox One over a PS4, however it doesn't mean that I find the business practice incredibly shady. You want to have timed exclusive fine, but don't then don't have consumers purchase that a full year in advance. I think that's what most people are upset about. With all those MS timed exclusives, you were never forced to buy the content at the same time it was released for the Xbox. However here they are saying "well we are going to have some DLC for you, but it's not going to be complete until 1 year from now". Make the Xbox DLC $2-3 cheaper if you are going to withhold a strike for a year, then allow people to buy that strike at a later date if they want to.

  • I understand that point of view. Another one however is that both console owners are buying the same content. Only PS4 is getting a few items sooner. So the exclusive Strike that PS4 will get with The Dark Beyond will be available at no extra charge on Xbox One later. This is what I assume they are doing. It could not be the case and Xbox will never see the exclusive content. The Playstation 4 exclusive content was not marketing as "preorder bonuses" but rather as exclusive content. So if you saw them as that, then you misunderstood "exclusive content".

  • Exclusive content and pre-order bonuses are essentially the same things. You can't get that content if you don't pre-order, therefore it's "exclusive" to those who pre-order The point was that at initial purchase people are more likely to let "exclusive content" slide because it is not deemed as that big of a deal. But when they pay the same amount of money again for less content again, it causes people to start getting upset. Do I think some people are over-reacting? Of course I do. However, I understand why they are feeling a certain way. Anyways, my main point wasn't to complain about this exclusive content. I'm certainly bummed I have to wait a year, but in the end it doesn't effect me that much. I simply wanted to point out that the exclusive deals with COD and MS are not similar to this situation with Sony and Destiny.

  • Right, but Playstation and Destiny had more than just the Exclusive Preorder Content. It was marketing as "Playstation gets exclusive content first". So people are getting upset for facts they misread. I understand them, and I can emphasis with then as well.
