As frustrating as it is for xbox users not having any exclusive content found on Playstation (extra pvp map, extra strike, extra exotics) and also all the PS4 events like the the ninja bounty, it must be really frustrating for all the creative people at Bungie to have the execs get in the way of their creation.
Now it was announced today that Playstation will be getting another exclusive strike with the new dlc (and I can only assume same will go with the House of Wolves dlc) increasing the number of strikes to 9. This sucks because xbox owners who have spent the same amount of money on destiny and the season pass only get 7 and strikes are a key point in the replayability of Destiny. Bungie messed up because of the deal with Playstation they are hurting their customers on xbox which will result in player drop off and thus not being able to sustain the number of players desired for their 10 year plan. I really like this game and I am an xbox one owner who is starting to feel the fatigue. With all the great options for games, I doubt i will be able to make it 1 full year to get the content that shouldn't have been taken away in the first place.
PS4 exclusives only benefit Playstation (not Playstation owners) because its designed to get people who either don't have a system and are using this game as a justification to purchase a console or the people who have both to buy it for their system. Gamers lose because of all these deals (Xbox lost on Destiny but PS lost on Tomb Raider worse imo), Programmers/Artist/Writer lose because the things they worked hard on are purposely not distributed to everyone. Sony and Microsoft win because people are forced to choose.
I wish the console wars were more about developing new exclusive ips (Gears, Last of Us) and not cutting content (Tiger Woods releasing 19 dlc courses for $50 same day the game came out) or timed releases (cod). As a side note, retailer exclusives need to stop too.
I hope bungie is addressing this issue and coming up with ways to rectify the exclusivity mistake. A few suggestions I have are:
- xbox events (along with ps events)
- additional free weapons/ armor (diluting the benefits ps owners get)
- additional free add on strikes or variants (different enemy placement would do wonders)
- modified strike playlist (playlist should have special currency and maybe less weapon xp)
---- example: only green/purple ammo drops from enemies (rocket strike would be so fun)
---- example: weapon type buffs (scout riffle would be OP for the strike)
- more venders that accept vanguard marks (maybe some that accept a third currency that you get from my modified strike playlist suggestion)
- confirmation that after the contract is over ps and xbox will have the same content
Please feel free to add on to my list and hopefully bungie will fix this so that we don't see this as common business practices in the future.

As an Xbox player I'm 100% fine with the Playstation getting content first I mean come on we have been getting our content on COD first for years now so this is a little pay back for that. But I feel we shouldn't have to wait a whole year for the extra content that's just rediculous. They should release the old extra content for us when new DLC drops so we would have to wait approximately three months or so between the time Playstation has the content before we would have it. As it is now we only have our DLC for COD for one month before Playstation gets it. So I just feel three months is way more than fair enough for DLC first on Playstation.

I am playing on ps4 and I feel for your pain. Paying the same amount of money but getting less content. Is like ordering a double cheese burger but only getting one patty. But the guy in front of you get a tripple burger and paying the same price

Edited by Striker93175: 10/30/2014 5:14:32 PMHey... Xbox got what 6 month timed exclusive rights to all of Skyrim dlc. It happens. To be fair there was a ton of marketing on how destiny is better on PS. Does it suck when it isn't your platform? Sure. Do I feel for you? Nope. Timed exclusives are common in this industry. It's not like your never getting it ya know
-
I was a massive fan of call of duty world at war and the first black ops, because of the zombies mode... Did I cry when Xbox users for the new maps a month early? No! Why? Because Microsoft paid for that privilege, just as sony has for the PS exclusives... Enough said, stop bitching, grow up!

It'd be nice if platform was literally a personal choice based on console offerings (not games but the other stuff) and controller preference. The biggest thing that could be done would be games like destiny that are cross platform could share servers so at any point an Xbox one, ps4, and last gen players could all be running a strike together. Alas, capitalism and market competition also has its long term development benefits as well, it's just obvious when things are looked at for fiscal purposes only and not gamer experience.

Everyone playing on xbox will at some point get the message that bungie is taking out their frustrations with microsoft out on us.

Edited by Roudhouse Kick: 10/30/2014 5:16:11 PMTimed exclusive Xbox users will get the extra strike in 2015 It is what it is, no amount of complaining is going to change that. At the same time, no one is forcing you to purchase the content. And no one is saying you must buy it day one either. Me? I'm considering it but will wait and see closer to the time after I have thoroughly assessed the content's worth.
-
find me a xbox controller I can use on the PS4 and i'll get a PS4, the controller is the only thing holding me back, #-blam!-pscontroller
-
i remember the day when each system would get an exclusive thing not just 1
-
Well, first off bungie made a deal with activision and activision is with Sony so PS users get exclusive content. Xbox players (im assuming) will get it eventually.
-
So many cry babies. It's a game not real life.
-
It's been said since day one of the adds "more content on ps4" best played on ps4" ps4 exclusives". So why complain now. Shoulda got a ps4 bro
-
Remember Ps3 we also get it :D
-
Xbox lost out way more on terms of destiny vs tomb raider. I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure the tomb raider exclusivity is barely anything whereas the destiny exclusivity lasts until fall 2015
-
This was made very clear since the beginning. Were people hiding under a rock? Bungie made it clear to the point where they took a hammer and knocked it over our heads that Destiny will have tons of exclusive content only on Playstation, even DLC content. The videos, interviews, and commercials all said "The Ultimate Destiny Experience Only on Playstation" Is it dividing their community? Maybe, I think the PS4 is still outselling the XB1 so they chose the right console for exclusivity. People willing paid the exact same price for less content over the course of the contract. Companies will continue to do this because gamers consciously do this. The best way to beat it is to simply not but the game or DLCs. Feeding companies your money for less content is essentially saying it's O.K.
-
Destiny was meant to be the Playstation's Halo. Xbox users are fortunate enough to even have it. And yeah, I do think it's really lame that consoles get different content. But, there was a reason why Microsoft couldn't advertise for this game and that's became Sony has Bungie by the balls this time around.
-
That's everyone's fault for not realizing Microsoft's horrible console back at E3. Shouldn't had bought it in the first place. Cant bitch and whine when its your fault for picking a bad console.
-
Edited by MadHat10: 10/30/2014 4:40:54 PMIs anyone familiar with U.S. Antitrust laws, and how this exclusive content might be a violation of such? Just curious if this would apply, and if action can be taken...
-
WEAK bro now you know how cod feels on ps stop whining and switch to the obvious winner
-
Rookie mistake bro! I saw this whole thing coming and switched from Xbox 360 to PS4.
-
Stop already. This was not bungies doing. This was Activision who agreed to give ps users exclusive shit didn't have to do with bungie. And the exclusive content is bonus shit your not paying for less were paying the same but getting extra bonus content.

where in anything that i wrote does it state that it is ok for microsoft to do exclusives on any multi platform game? exclusive games on platforms make sense because they can be better optimized and sony/microsoft/nintendo help with development. Only exclusive i have a problem with is tomb raider cuz that is a sequel and its not fair ps people don't get to play it for a year. One year is way too long and i don't want any game to think that is ok. Destiny is not the same product on both systems because of that. the difference between 5 and 6 strikes is huge when most people have done over 100 of them and even though the exclusive strike probably sucks, it would help a little with the repetition. I wrote this with suggestions on how to make the game (and other games) better so we can all continue to enjoy them. ps people have chose this as an invitation to gloat when there isn't anything to gloat about. This is an injustice for all of us because if its ok of sony and destiny then it will be ok for whatever game and microsoft.
-
I think the whole fact that companies can pay for exclusive content is bs. Call of Duty (apparently) is not reupping it's contract with Microsoft after AW (please correct me if I'm wrong, as I heard that back in August) and that's incredibly awesome to hear. It's annoying and depressing to see. All that being said, luckily, the ps exclusive stuff sucks (except for Hawkmoon).
-
pfft pls ps4 exclusives are a joke. aside from hawkmoon, sorry xb1s
-
Yea this has been known since before release. Sony offered a better deal, take your complaints up with Microsoft for not doing more for their customers. I was an Xbox 360 gamer for awhile but before the next gen releases I looked at all this stuff and it was obvious who was gonna be on top.

Edited by DFStormbringer: 10/30/2014 2:31:11 PMmicrosoft pays for xbox exclusivs on games as well especially for call of duty so do your research before you bitch about business practicess that microsoft pretty much coined well over a decade ago.
