As frustrating as it is for xbox users not having any exclusive content found on Playstation (extra pvp map, extra strike, extra exotics) and also all the PS4 events like the the ninja bounty, it must be really frustrating for all the creative people at Bungie to have the execs get in the way of their creation.
Now it was announced today that Playstation will be getting another exclusive strike with the new dlc (and I can only assume same will go with the House of Wolves dlc) increasing the number of strikes to 9. This sucks because xbox owners who have spent the same amount of money on destiny and the season pass only get 7 and strikes are a key point in the replayability of Destiny. Bungie messed up because of the deal with Playstation they are hurting their customers on xbox which will result in player drop off and thus not being able to sustain the number of players desired for their 10 year plan. I really like this game and I am an xbox one owner who is starting to feel the fatigue. With all the great options for games, I doubt i will be able to make it 1 full year to get the content that shouldn't have been taken away in the first place.
PS4 exclusives only benefit Playstation (not Playstation owners) because its designed to get people who either don't have a system and are using this game as a justification to purchase a console or the people who have both to buy it for their system. Gamers lose because of all these deals (Xbox lost on Destiny but PS lost on Tomb Raider worse imo), Programmers/Artist/Writer lose because the things they worked hard on are purposely not distributed to everyone. Sony and Microsoft win because people are forced to choose.
I wish the console wars were more about developing new exclusive ips (Gears, Last of Us) and not cutting content (Tiger Woods releasing 19 dlc courses for $50 same day the game came out) or timed releases (cod). As a side note, retailer exclusives need to stop too.
I hope bungie is addressing this issue and coming up with ways to rectify the exclusivity mistake. A few suggestions I have are:
- xbox events (along with ps events)
- additional free weapons/ armor (diluting the benefits ps owners get)
- additional free add on strikes or variants (different enemy placement would do wonders)
- modified strike playlist (playlist should have special currency and maybe less weapon xp)
---- example: only green/purple ammo drops from enemies (rocket strike would be so fun)
---- example: weapon type buffs (scout riffle would be OP for the strike)
- more venders that accept vanguard marks (maybe some that accept a third currency that you get from my modified strike playlist suggestion)
- confirmation that after the contract is over ps and xbox will have the same content
Please feel free to add on to my list and hopefully bungie will fix this so that we don't see this as common business practices in the future.

Edited by DFStormbringer: 10/30/2014 2:31:11 PMmicrosoft pays for xbox exclusivs on games as well especially for call of duty so do your research before you bitch about business practicess that microsoft pretty much coined well over a decade ago.
-
Sony was willing to pay. Microsoft wasn't. You want to be mad, go be mad at Microsoft for being stingy.
-
xbox has no games
-
It's always been exclusive DLC with ps getting the better side where have you been?
-
We've known this since the pre orders became available for purchase. Don't know why everyone is acting all surprised.
-
No, exclusive dlc is fine, it's good for competition, but both Consoles paying the same amount, but one getting more than the other is unfair, I'd rather everyone get the same amount, maybe PS just gets it a month early (like COD)

DLC for Final Fantasy: New class, with a complete storyline for it New raids. With an S. New Primal fight. New Hard Mode dungeons(with a new storyline and bosses for each) New crafting recipes. New main story questlines. Multiple new side questlines. I understand that is a subscription game, but it also shows how utterly lazy bungie has become in every way. Their game, DLC, and effort has been so shady, and 2 faced, and lies upon lies. Recap: -Morrowind, 15 years old, beats this game in depth, story, map, characters and every other thing, except graphics.... -Destiny takes about 6 hours, to level from 0-26 (excluding the raid, thats the ENTIRE game beat) 6 hours, for the "new thing in gaming" -You could add other games DLC, and their size would beat all of Destinys size, for the actual GAME. By the time we pay, for 4 DLC's, it will have cost more than the game itself, and after 4 DLC, it MIGHT be a full game....a year away, when its dead already.
-
Why don't you just fork over millions of dollars to bungie to make it equal
-
#Loves Bungie games and stays with bungie for years #Gets constantly spat in the face for being more hyped up about Destiny being a bungie game because he has xbox and knows what the games are like. #At the top of this all is a few idiots who are singing Abba MONEy MONEY MONEY SeLF I DONT GIVE A sHIT abOUT YOUR WoRLD!

The community PvP bounties aren't PS4 exclusive. They had an XboxOne community PvP bounty at one point. My question is, will last-gen even get those community bounties?

Edited by hunkeymonkey124: 10/30/2014 11:36:02 AMSimple fact is bungie dont have a say in it anymore its all contracted up sony is boss when it comes to the exclusives as this all would have been contracted a long time ago, People stop messaging me saying no its activision. Maybe i was not clear activision and bungie will have contracts with sony about the exclusives meaning they cant change anything to do with the exclusives without sonys sayso contracts rule supreme, Have a good day

I bought my PS4 because they announced long ago that Destiny would have exclusives. It was said that PS4 was the system to experience Destiny on. Pretty simple really.
-
Bump x 1000. It -blam!-ing boils my blood that they're doing this. Playstation players get the full game, Xbox players pay the same amount of money and get less than the full game. Xbox players, the ones who supported Halo for 10+ years and gave Bungie the income that made them the company they are today. It's -blam!-ing insulting and I won't be buying this DLC unless they revert this stupid, unfair bullshit.
-
I don't have a problem with ps players getting timed exclusives. I have a problem with the paltry amount of content already available for the Xbox, and the minuscule amount being offered in the DLC, and then they offer extra content for ps players. I also have a problem being charged the same price for less product. That's a really bad business model.

Edited by Kovathos: 10/30/2014 6:34:33 AMThis reply is for everyone. If you don't like a companies business practice, don't support it. When companies don't get money you bet they are going to do what they can to get it again, perfect example is what Xbox was originally going to have which was Drm, always online, activation fees for used games probably or just not being able to use them at all, etc... People were up in arms, Sony said they wouldn't do that, people went away from Microsoft, so what did Microsoft do? They got rid of most of that stuff. So again, don't like what a company is doing? Don't support it. Don't buy it and then complain about it, and buy the next one anyway.
-
Yeah i agree totaly. Kind of reminds me of call of duty actually.
-
*puts down a flower for Xbone users* RIP.
-
the only one they could realistically do is the last one... confirm that after the year xbox users get the additional content. but you HAVE to know they can't do xbox exclusive stuff... that would violate the contract with Sony. And even Activision doesn't want to tackle Sony's lawyers... those guys eat babies for breakfast.
-
Guys leave out the jealousy it´s just more make up. essentially the stuff is useless. And for the missions - yeah you´d play them once in a while. Same crap as anywhere else in the game. Surprise ...
-
I just hate the activision influence and how it just makes everyone lose out. Exclusivity, day one dlc and disc locked content are killing the gaming industry, devs are unable to create the product they want to make due to decisions made by publishers. People need to stop blaming bungie and the devs when really all the problems with this game like lack of story and exclusivity deals are activision's fault.
-
I own the Xbox version and I DON'T have a problem with exclusive content for PS. Exclusives are part of the business and without we would have never player Halo or Gears. BUT the PROBLEM here is, how Bungie/Activision is treating it. The game has already far less than enough content, the DLC offers only content for 1 or maybe 2 weeks. It's just not enough content in the game. If there was enough content and they give the PS some additional missions, strikes, ... I won't mind, but this game has simply not enough content. Not on Xbox and not on PS. This is the main problem. Why weren't consumers angry because of exclusives for CoD (Xbox) or AC (until this year PS)? Because the games had enough content. Destiny hasn't enough, that's why people start getting angry. 3 story missions, 1 strike and 1 raid is really a bad joke. Even if you add the PS stuff it's still a joke.

Xbox player chiming in here. Not a big COD fan and honestly don't play a wide variety of games, so I'm not going to get into the whole console war/exclusive war part too much. I bought Destiny cause of the hype (lol) and I've had my fun playing it. These are the types of games I enjoy. I've got 1 level 30 working on the second, and honestly don't even want to bother logging in anymore after today because I just feel in the end I'm getting punished just for buying an Xbox over Playstation. Did I know Playstation had exclusive rights to Destiny? Yes, to a certain extent. Honestly I thought it was just at launch. Didn't know it would continue onto the DLCs. I could have dealt with a 1-2 month delay on extra strikes, but having more in rotation keeps the game fresh. Paying the same price for less content isn't on my to do list. Am I going to get the DLC? Probably not right away. I suppose in the future the game will get fixed (to a certain extent) and then I'll consider it. 35$ for a season pass isn't alot, but it just feels that as an gamer I'm getting shafted for my choice of console. There's other games to play and other things to do. If you're like me and feel that you're getting screwed for no reason, just hang out and find a new game. Trust me you'll survive.
-
I hate the console wars. I wish they would end. I bought an Xbox One because that's where most of my friends were going. Why? Because we all had 360's. I could give a crap what brand of console I am playing, it's the games I want. Stop this console specific non-sense. PSN users having a couple different exotics and some armor seems reasonable. But missions and strikes? That's bs.
-
I don't mind PS user's having the same content however, i feel as if the price for the DLC should be less for Xbox users. the price shouldn't be the same if one console receives more content than the other. (I have the LE so I'm not really complaining.)
-
Money talks. Quit being s bitch and accept it. COD does this every year with Xbox.
-
Expect it to get worse in the future, not better. Capitalism is a machine that has no remorse, my friend.
