WTF Exclusive DLC now?
As frustrating as it is for xbox users not having any exclusive content found on Playstation (extra pvp map, extra strike, extra exotics) and also all the PS4 events like the the ninja bounty, it must be really frustrating for all the creative people at Bungie to have the execs get in the way of their creation.
Now it was announced today that Playstation will be getting another exclusive strike with the new dlc (and I can only assume same will go with the House of Wolves dlc) increasing the number of strikes to 9. This sucks because xbox owners who have spent the same amount of money on destiny and the season pass only get 7 and strikes are a key point in the replayability of Destiny. Bungie messed up because of the deal with Playstation they are hurting their customers on xbox which will result in player drop off and thus not being able to sustain the number of players desired for their 10 year plan. I really like this game and I am an xbox one owner who is starting to feel the fatigue. With all the great options for games, I doubt i will be able to make it 1 full year to get the content that shouldn't have been taken away in the first place.
PS4 exclusives only benefit Playstation (not Playstation owners) because its designed to get people who either don't have a system and are using this game as a justification to purchase a console or the people who have both to buy it for their system. Gamers lose because of all these deals (Xbox lost on Destiny but PS lost on Tomb Raider worse imo), Programmers/Artist/Writer lose because the things they worked hard on are purposely not distributed to everyone. Sony and Microsoft win because people are forced to choose.
I wish the console wars were more about developing new exclusive ips (Gears, Last of Us) and not cutting content (Tiger Woods releasing 19 dlc courses for $50 same day the game came out) or timed releases (cod). As a side note, retailer exclusives need to stop too.
I hope bungie is addressing this issue and coming up with ways to rectify the exclusivity mistake. A few suggestions I have are:
- xbox events (along with ps events)
- additional free weapons/ armor (diluting the benefits ps owners get)
- additional free add on strikes or variants (different enemy placement would do wonders)
- modified strike playlist (playlist should have special currency and maybe less weapon xp)
---- example: only green/purple ammo drops from enemies (rocket strike would be so fun)
---- example: weapon type buffs (scout riffle would be OP for the strike)
- more venders that accept vanguard marks (maybe some that accept a third currency that you get from my modified strike playlist suggestion)
- confirmation that after the contract is over ps and xbox will have the same content
Please feel free to add on to my list and hopefully bungie will fix this so that we don't see this as common business practices in the future.

4 RepliesSo let me get this straight Xbox users are complaining about 2 weapons that you will probably use for like a week then find something better, a pvp map that's alright, and a strike that just annoys the hell out of most people I know. How is that really so game breaking that everyone has to cry about it.

It sucks. But it is what it is. I'll hate them for it, as will a lot of people. Bottom line though, Sony forked up the cash for it, but I can't imagine anyone switching consoles over it. Bad marketing move IMO

10 RepliesKeep in mind this stuff was announced way way waaaaay long ago. So everyone that is throwing a fit is extremely uninformed. We've known this all for months now. Xbox gets everything a year later. That hasn't changed. I'm not saying get over it, but it's called an exclusive deal for a reason. There isn't anything you can do.

21 RepliesEVERY SINGLE TIME i see one of these posts(xbox users whining about timed exclusive content), it annoys the living shit out of me.....how is it that you all have forgotten that you got THE ENTIRE halo series? that was an entire SERIES of entire GAMES, that was exclusive to your console of choice....and now you want to whine, and complain about a few extra piece of content that playstation is getting, and is only going to have all to themselves for a little while? jesus christ, first world problems strike again.. thankfully, i don't care about platforms, so much as the games on them, so i've got xboxes, and i've played halo, and it's damn good...at least the bungie halo titles.....but anyway, seriously, quit crying..

As a PS4 owner I really don't feel that it adds much more play time. A few more strikes in the random rotations of tiger strikes and 2 more guns that give u a reason to be mad at RNG. Edit: I understand the concept of if he has it, I have to have it. I feel it is kinda childish.

I wouldn't care if the extra stuff was separate dlc expansions. But, they are trying to charge xbox players for LESS content for the same DLC? Seriously? -blam!- off Bungie. You've gotten greedy. Your glory days of halo are but a distant memory now. Destiny is ruining your reputation.

But since it is part of the same DLC, I sure expect bungie to make it up right now. 1 ReplyTo all these people comparing what DLC Xbox had gotten first. Notice, you guys never had to wait almost a year to get DLC that you're paying the same price for. A month, where as Bungie is planning on release it for us on Xbox in Fall of 2015? So, we're paying the same amount of money but don't get the same content for a year. If it was a 1 month sort of deal, hey fine whatever. But, a year? That's batshit crazy and any person that has a brain and any sort of neutrality to either party would see that it's completely insane. And to those bringing up Halo, please, do not compare an exclusive game to exclusive DLC. You're not [i]paying[/i] for that game to have to wait a year to get access to it.

Xbox players are paying for the same amount of content as PS players, but PS players just get more, to those of you pulling up exclusive games for consoles, your argument is ridiculously flawed. Lets put it this way: For CoD DLC, did PS players pay for the dlc just to have parts of it walled off for a year? No. It just came to them a month later. Not a year later, a month, sorry you're so impatient you can't wait a month for mediocre maps. For timed exclusive games, you can get your pre-order money back, we can't, we're stuck missing out on content that we bought/are buying. For general exclusive games, systems are always going to have exclusive games, there's nothing about that that will change, but this disgusting trend of games being multiplat and other consoles getting the short end of the stick is COMPLETELY different. ESPECIALLY since it's bungie, Xbox has been bungies home for what, 10+ years? So it's a huge slap in the face to Xbox owners and mostly to bungie followers. If you're just going to be a child and wave it in our faces i'll wave MCC and Sunset Overdrive in your face. And the vast majority of destiny players that are as well fed up with this game will just bail out for the next big game, and loyal bungie customers will be deterred away from the company. What's this achieving? Splitting the community.

3 RepliesYeah wouldn't care if we didn't have to pay the same amount, if Sony wants to pay all kinds of money to get exclusive content that's fine. Not paying the same $20 for less content though, that's just stupid. Game was fun but I won't be buying any DLC if I'm paying the same price and getting less. Whatever marketing genius with 4 MBA's thought this one up I'm sure will be laughing his way to the bank, but I'll be putting that $20 towards some other game now.

6 RepliesI think that the move to offer more content on a specific platform pre-release was fine. Yes, Xbox players knew ahead of time that they were not getting some content until a year from now. Playstation paid money to make sure their customers got a little more first. Still, it was known before anyone had a chance to own the game. I think there should be no argument there. However, it is extremely disappointing that Xbox players are losing out on DLC that is priced the same, yet less in delivery. One might argue that Bungie priced each DLC without the inclusion of timed content, but then the price isn't nearly worth the amount they are offering. Fact of the matter is, nothing was accurately communicated to the public. Although this move might have been agreed upon by Activision and Playstation ahead of time, it was not explained to the public. From what most people thought, the difference in content was to only be for the initial release of the game. Of course, this turned out to be false. And we would also be fools to think that Microsoft did not know what was going on with this deal. Otherwise, we would hear a lot of legal ramifications between Activision, Sony, and Microsoft. So why didn't Microsoft say anything? I think the obvious theory is that less copies would be sold on 360 and X1 if they openly told their customers to expect less content in the future. Every business has their moral obligation to sustain themselves or better service the customer. It is not as easy as one would think (we are biased, because we're the customer and "the customer is always right"). Of course, this is only a theory. So who's really at fault here? Sony, for buying their larger market share? Activision/Bungie for not fully disclosing every detail of their agreement with Sony (or even accepting the time exclusive deal with Sony)? Microsoft, for not fighting/paying for timed content for their customers (shouldn't need to, but money buys more)? TL;DR - Yeah, Xbox players were screwed over because they are asked to pay the same rate for DLC, only to receive ~80% of it now and the rest in less than a year. Sony payed for timed content, and got it. Xbox customers should have gotten the privilege of knowing ahead of time what they were really getting.

we are a minority now, it only makes sense that they cater to the majority. My issue is not with the exclusivity but the time of the exclusivity, other games i have played have had timed exclusives but at most it was a month or 2, not 12. Most video games are lucky to stay popular for 6 months let alone a full year. The launch exclusives i can live with, but every DLC? that is pushing the envelope at least with me anyway. 1 strike, an armor set and 2 exotic guns wasnt a big deal, but losing out on a strike from every single DLC thats just dumb.

7 RepliesI'm a PS4 user. I got all the free content. I didn't like tons of PS exclusive content (for example little big planet.) I can laugh all day about xbox users getting less game for the same price. But I actually can't laugh about it. If it was the other way around I would be very very annoyed. So yeah OP, I agree with you. Exclusive content is kind of crap. I feel empathy for your troubles.
