Raid reward system is broken...IMO. Is the raid reward system broken for you?
I feel that the reward system in the raid is broken. I have completed the raid approximately 15 times [EDIT: I've actually completed the raid 24 times]. About half of those times I have been getting the 5th chest. I am only counting the first play-through of the week for each character. I usually play with the same people most of the time. They have all received good rewards and have enough raid armor to make 2 level 30 characters. In all of that time, I have only received 3 pieces of armor (excluding warlock bonds). The most important piece of armor to make level 30, boots, have not been dropped once. I am beyond frustrated. I played the raid last night and I received 1 item; Praedyth's Revenge, which was my third time receiving. All of my teammates received 2 or 3 items (weapons and armor). I have one teammate that has played the raid 4 times and already has a full set of armor (with an exotic helmet).
In all of my raid play-throughs I have received;
Weapons;
Praedyth's Revenge (x3)
Found Verdict (x1)
Corrective Measure (x1)
Shadow Price (x1)
Vision of Confluence (x1)
Hezen Vengeance (x1)
Armor;
Gloves of the Hezen Lords (x1)

Disclaimer: I enjoy playing Destiny a lot. I am not hating on the game, I am just frustrated that I don't seem to get as many rewards on the raid as everyone else that I play with.

Ok seriously since I know i can not open any chest until next week reset I figure let me run the raid and beat Atheon. This was on hard mode I completely lost it for a second, are you seriously going to award me acsended shard oh and guess what for like the 6 time chatterwhite for beating atheon on hard. Take this crap acsended material out of the damn raid, they have no business being in the VOG. As i said in a previous post I do not need any more acsended material especially shards. I have enough shards to complete at least up to 5 gears. What good is having all these shards if you are not dropping the gears I need for my characters. IF I WANTED ASCENDED MATERIALS I CAN FARM THEM FROM DOING PUBLIC EVENTS, THAT'S WHAT THEY ARE THERE FOR AND ALSO DOING THE DAILY EVERY DAY. My titan is still a 29 for almost 2 months now and my other 2 characters has not picked up any raid gear whatso ever, this week with all 3 characters I have picked up nothing but acsended materials. Bungie your drop rate for the VOG is clearly broken. Fix your damn game already.

1 ReplyI have gotten plenty of good things, and typically don't get too many duplicates (outside of Chatterwhite). My main issue is getting a lot of ascendant energy. I like Ascendant Shards at least, but not Ascendant energies. All the weapons worth upgrading take a really long time to upgrade, and I only use a few. The raid RNG is typically pretty nice to me, except one time when I got the warlock gloves but they gave a strength boost (aka the one attribute that is nearly useless to warlocks, grenades/supers are so much better) The main RNG thing that is bothering me right now is Xur, and his hatred for warlocks :l

1 ReplyI've played through the raid 3 times. 1st time I got raid gauntlets and shards Second time shards and energies and chatter white 3rd time, the last word, shattered vault cloak, and the raid ship.... So my opinion is split...

2 RepliesI feel your pain and anguish. I myself have completed the raid upwards of ten times and I have NEVER gotten a single piece of raid armor for any of the multiple characters I've done it with. My buddy who has finished his fourth or fifth raid now has every piece he needs to max out. The reward system in this game is the most ridiculous piece of crap I've ever seen in any game ever. I understand not making things easy in order to get the best gear, but good god, to not be rewarded with anything for countless hours of hard work while a person who has never done a raid before, can come in, die 20 times in three minutes and still walk away with more than you have is beyond screwed up. Dear Bungie, f*** your game straight to hell.

I have been stuck at level 29 on my titan now for almost 2 months now, I have also ran it with my warlock and hunter which are close to 28 to see if I have any luck on getting any raid gear for them. Well to my surprise on all 3 characters I have received nothing but ascended material while running raid on both hard & normal. My titan is the only charater with 2 raid gear, the gauntlet and leg armor. I have received 3 more gauntlets which i have dismantled to get what(OMG) more ascended shards, Chatterwhite 5 of them which have been dismantled, yes I have received some raid weapons but now all I get is ascended material. I have enough ascended material between all 3 characters to upgrade up to 5 complete sets of gear. They should remove ascended material from the raid completely. It makes no sense what so ever to have them in the raid. I don't need anymore ascended material, better loot drops is what is needed. What good is having all those shards if I don't have the gear to use them on. IF I WANTED ASCENDED MATERIALS I CAN FARM THEM FROM DOING PUBLIC EVENTS, THAT'S WHAT THEY ARE THERE FOR AND ALSO DOING THE DAILY EVERY DAY.

I've done the raid close to 20 times, the only piece of armor I've gotten is the boots, and that was my first time through. Have gotten around 6-7 chatter whites, countless shards and energies (a few raids were solely just shards and energy with chatter white being the only different drop). I'm now to the point where I've needed the chest or the helm to hit 30 for awhile and last time I was in I had to watch a Titan get the warlock chest piece. I think that giving out raid gear for a specific class to another class is the most bullshit thing I've experienced in this game. I had to listen to that Titan talk about dismantling the chest piece he didn't need when it was the one thing I needed to be level 30. The loot system is broken in my opinion.

Edited by Aaron Teriyaki: 10/29/2014 11:26:34 PMI'm getting tired of running the raid and getting nothing, bungie's idea of RNG everything is just frustrating, i shouldn't have to raid for hours to "possibly" get something i need, especially on hard. they should have raid currency or something so at least after grinding through the raid enough times, i'd have enough of that currency to buy something that i actually need.

I've only completed it a few times but luckily got all the armor I needed in a row but have only gotten atheons epilogue as far as weapons. I do think it's messed up how some people do it 10-20+ times without getting the armor they need, the main reason to do the raid, armor that you don't have should be prioritized in my opinion.

I made an alt the same class as my main just to run the raid for both characters just to get 30... no go.... all my clan members have all been 30 for awhile now and all their alts are 30... and im still here sitting at 29... I honeslty wouldnt mind a token system for completing checkpoints... Receive a token after completing a checkpoint (for the first time in the week) in the raid ... make the armor cost as much as about 2 weeks worth of raiding and have a vendor in the tower selling raid gear.. That to me would at least give a light at the end of the tunnel if you're just like us and having the most horrible luck... I mean for me.. its like ive been 29 for 4 weeks on 2 characters... every week i wait for Tuesday just to see if i get boots... 2 normal 2 hard raids later.. no boots ... its quite the shaft...

If I take out the multiples, it's 24 completed raids for 9 loots. That's a 37.5% drop rate... Gotta be honest, you get a good # of loots per run bro. Any idea how many shards and energies?

I have run people through the VOg and on their first time they got all they needed to hit level 30. There should be some sort of system implemented that could prevent this sort of issue from happening. For example, with the current system of vanguard reputation and marks, means that if you do not get lucky enough to get a legendary drop, if you play the game enough and on the higher difficulty systems, you can eventually guarantee yourself the opportunity to get level 29 gear from the Vanguard outfitter. They have done this for strikes, run enough of them and if your still missing the boots you can buy the boots if you grind for it. However with the raid, it is all a roll of the dice. Some people are going to roll once and get everything they could want or need. Some people are just going to loose. (I know someone who has gone through the VOG 15+ times and has not got any raid gear to show for it) There should be a system implemented, like the strike playlist, but for raids, were you can earn raid reputation and marks. Possibly even raid bounties. EG. beat raid in less than 1 hour, beat raid on hard, kill templar without allowing him to teleport, get past conflux with less than 3 vex sacrificing themselves. You do enough of these, you could visit a raid vendor that you can guarantee yourself some raid gear that the RNG system has not been giving you.

I've run the raid on hard and normal multiple times all I get is energy and shards oh not to mention the 4 ships and 5 shaders I have I have no raid gear and no weapons from the vault yet and if I'm honest it's getting annoying I had a mate join for last battle and got 1x raid kit and 1x weapon while I got another shader

I think it's odd (more like bad) that end-game character progression is governed by RNG. No reason that someone like you who has done the raid multiple times can't at least have some way to acquire the gear you need other than blind luck. Makes no sense to me.
