In essence, you're asking for a Full Party Raid. A horde-style battle on a war-like setting with traditionally 24 players at a time. Most popular MMOs have this in them. In fact, they're usually the Holy Grail of the game. With unique stories per war, each one being released once a month and lasting for two to three weeks.
I honestly do like your opinion. I haven't played as much as most right now because I'm giving the game breathing room (like you're supposed to in MMOs). I have gone Hollow (losing total interest) once after being the team leader again in a control match. I thought "what's the point?" and turned off my console, walking outside into the "real world" and immediately come back in because I could feel myself burn in the sunlight. The next day, I turned Destiny on again, and played until I wanted to stop, 11:00.
The issue is that people binge the game. This isn't about running out of content, but rather that there's so much to do that they don't want to do anything. It's same idea as when you come home and you have three essays due the next day and a test, so you take a nap.
