Or why are there so many of them recently, anyway. So Anita Sarkeesian says "We seriously need to address connections between violence, sexism and toxic ideas of manhood before more boys and men commit more mass shootings." Well, I'm neither agreeing nor disagreeing with that, I can't quite wrap my head around it, in fact, so I'm posing the question. What's up with all the mass shootings and why is it always a dude? Men are just more prone to violence it seems, I guess due to testosterone. There are probably about as many mentally unstable (talking the suicidal/homicidal status here) females as there are males, they're just less likely to say -blam!- it, I'm gonna get a gun and go to work. That one seems easy to me. The reason there have been so many shootings lately could be a direct consequence of the flaws in society, not that sexism isn't one of them, but is it the biggest one? Is it more directly responsible for people snapping and going pscyho than, say, prescribing mental patients narcotics and drugs that alter your brain chemistry instead of therapy designed to help them better the circumstances in their life that are holding them back? I say not, what say you?

Toxic masculinity? Oh boy this society is truly -blam!-ed

Narcissistic beliefs coupled with a sense of entitlement and a insatiable thirst for power. Intelligence also appears to be a very important co-factor.

Because sometimes a man has to be a man. There is nothing more primeval about masculinity than standing over your dead enemies. Read Fight Club.

Normal reasons like mental health, bad upbringing, brain damage, natural human instinct.

men may be may be more prone to some types of violence, whereas women are more prone to other types. women are typically the ones that you hear of drowning or smothering their children. (not at all implying this is a common thing or limited to women) i just think that violence emanates from a thought which is fueled by testosterone or estrogen or a number of other things to mature into an act. and those acts, in my opinion, can be more common in one group than another, (whether those groups are broken down by gender or culture or a number of other qualities).

Edited by Takeitslave: 10/30/2014 11:31:34 PMAnita sarkesian is a dog shit slut whore bitch fart smelling twat whose main goal in life is to ruin everyones life. I agree with the dead/-blam!- threats. She should be slow tortured till she dies then her lifeless body will be desecrated by any necropheliac. Men should oppress women more to piss her more off and make her go nanners zoe deserves the same

Edited by C0D3 red: 10/30/2014 5:29:35 AMI would think due to hormonal differences. Testosterone, an enraged boy, a weapon, and the media blowing up these shootings would probably make a mentally unstable person do something like that. I think girls really only get depressed, not enraged. Depression leads to bad things too. But with men, depression, testosterone, and the popularity of school shooting might make them more likely to act out like this.
-
Men are less likely to seek medical help for mental issues than women because of the stigma and shame that unfortunately comes with it. We bash men who express their feeling and emotions and then wonder why they snap. Everyone has a breaking point. Some are more fragile than others.
-
Those shooters have all shown signs of mental illness not every man is so -blam!-ing aggressive because of hormones that they shoot up a -blam!-ing school

Women "go postal" just in different ways.

It's a combination of factors, different for every case. Mental health, and access to facilities which help with that are one factor. A guy ended up being driven to snipe people from a rooftop because he had a large tumor in his brain. Suicide rates are also higher amoung men, signifying that men's needs are not being met. Societal pressures might also drive more men than women to cause physical harm. Consider bullies at school. Boys are physical, while girls are emotional in their harm (typically). When deciding that they must take an action that will probably end in their death, men will seek to cause physical harm to others, while women will seek to cause emotional harm to others.
Things that don't cause such events: Comic books, video games, and television. Suck it, media and Concernocrats!
Edited by Forever Berg: 10/30/2014 5:26:09 AMMass shootings are on the decline, and homicides have been going down massively since the 90's. However, the shootings are mostly dude for the same reason dudes are more likely to succeed with suicide, guys aren't pussies and will accomplish what they want how they want to. A mentally disturbed girl will off herself and make an attention whore video, a mentally disturbed dude will get pissed off and take things in his own hands to solve it how he thinks is best. Dudes have always been proactive, that's why it's a man-ruled world. Plus girls know that physically they are not as big of a threat and wouldn't be able to control weaponry.

That's really weird, and I have begun to think very deeply of it.
