Oh, Deej.. I think this every time I read what you guys are doing then see the plethora of people's negative comments... I would NOT want your job, or any of your jobs over at bungie. But for whatever it's worth, I love the game still, and am seemingly one of the few who really appreciate the team behind it all and the vast scale of the things you guys tackle every day lol

I don't blame Deej, or even the developers ( for the most part), because they aren't the ones actually making the decisions. Having previously worked in the gaming industry for a almost a decade, I can tell you that the majority of the real decision makers have little to no contact with the actual player base. Typical feedback is skewed towards the positive either through their direct manipulation, or that of those preparing it for them. The beauty of statistics, is that you manipulate raw data to say whatever you want it to if slice it right. Additionally, most of these decision makers are mid-upper management whose primary focus is net profit and cya contingency planning for when they eventually can't sustain a "reasonable" profit margin. Their goal is not make a great game, but make money (salary, stock options, climb the corp ladder, pad the resume, etc.), if a great game gets made, all the better as it increases their potential value for the next job, or gets them one step closer to an earlier retirement. I know the above sounds pessimistic, dour, whatever, but I've seen it at pretty much every game company from small to large (25+/- to 500+). So, by all means make your dissatisfaction known, even vitriolic if you must, but try to take it easy on Deej, I guarantee you they are only allowed to post what the censor(s) allow. As the saying goes, don't shot the messenger.

  • I couldn't agree more. And very well thought out and written response. Now, If only everyone shared those sentiments.
