You guys know that the $ and the £ are completely different right? If you think you're being ripped off in the states just let this sink in...
$20.00 = £12.50 - $20.00 = E15.87
£20.00 = $32.00 - E20.00 = $25.20
So wtf are we expected to pay so much more for this content? I get that there is different taxation here in the UK but thats no more than 40% and thats not based on what you fancy selling it for stateside!
I have no problem with how you have valued this DLC (based upon your $ value) but I am disgusted and offended at how you value your consumers outside of the states. That you have the audacity to adjust the value of your product so much and so conveniently for a different currency (not even a different region, format, console generation) shows nothing but greed and disrespect.
What is it even worth to you? To have such a variance in your costing indicates that you haven't got the slightest clue.

VAT at 20% still applies to this DLC. £12.50 +VAT = £17.50 I agree that £20 is overpriced, but not by as much as everyone's claims. Not only should you level a complaint to Bungie but also write a letter to your politician about the high VAT levels.
-
True but there is an American equivalent of VAT that when combined with the cost gives $20. Our VAT should apply to that base price which is something I mention. Specifically the 40% comment as we have different taxation on digital/electronic goods. Even still, what does this £2.50 net me? An investment in a company that demonstrates that it thinks I'm a mug for charging me it in the first place!
-
The Americans have a Sales Tax that is between 0% and 10% depending on state and product. Also I must point out that my maths in my original statement was a bit poor. £12.50 +VAT = £15 We are paying over the odds. This is nothing new. But to solely blaim one company for this is absurd. There are many in the chain. Bungie, Activision, Microsoft, Government. There are likely more factors than this, but people don't like to do research when they can happily shout at a brick wall.
-
Seriously though. Prices in the big 3 are a 2 and some zeros. There is laziness and ultimately greed all over this.
-
Thanks for the info. No worries, I'm ashamed I missed that % foible as well.
-
This seems a bit better £30 for both. I think the real issue isn't exchange rate, its the price, US included.

Edited by FOG TOO SEXY: 10/30/2014 10:55:45 AMSet country to America and exchange £ for $ and then buy the DLC, save yourself some money!
-
Done this on PS3 before. Unsure on whether or not it won't bite me in the ass on next gen
-
Cause we won the revolution and bailed you out in both WW's. Bungie is going by what our exchange rate used to be worth!

Read a text book. You sat by and made money off of both sides up until pearl harbour. Then you cried and took your ball home/committed a war crime. Also, the $ has never been worth more than the £. Don't question the British. Our education system works.
-
I did read a text book. Perhaps I should have read a primary source document instead? You must have the same text book publisher if you believe the British have not committed any atrocities. I must question any Brit who cannot be bothered with capitalization or spelling. It is "Pearl Harbor" you git. Her majesty surely did not decree that you must purchase DLC at such an inflated price? From some of the other posts, you would think Obama already signed an Executive Order. Trolling is exhausting. You took such offense! Relax, it is almost tea time.
-
Respect. Morale of the story? Non of us know the whole story, especially with regards to this DLC pricing system! Now if you'll excuse me I have shamed my nation with my poor caps use... but my rage is ignited by your Z spelling of capitalisation. I'm so conflicted!! ARGH!
-
Respect and thanks for the laugh. That Z is worth 10 points, and I am working on a bounty to use 100 of them today in forum posts. 98 to go!
-
The text books are really different.

You need to take into account the vast shipping costs of a digital download. Oh wait.
-
Funnily enough I read an article on the escapist about how digital distribution is more expensive than conventional not long ago. It defies all logic and reason. Must find source material
-
Please do! I just had a quick search and saw an article with a Nintendo spokesman saying the only reason there is no discount on digital downloads is because you're paying for the content :P
-
Yeah uk gamer here and although I have been very supportive thus far this is the first thing they have done which has actually got me somewhat angry.
-
I just hope the UK supermarkets do there usual thing and reduce the price the day after release as a loss leader. Only thing is it's one thing to drop the price of a physical disc down to £35 from £54.99 on release day. Not so sure with a digital code. Perhaps Bungie and other company's aren't aware that in the UK we don't actually ever pay £50 for a game because you can go to a supermarket and buy it £10 cheaper on release day and £15 a week later. That's probably why £20 expansion on a £54.99 doesn't seem to bad to them. But the reality of £20 expansion on £35 game is a ripoff.
-
It's also the reasons I have yet to buy digital on anything but indies, as they are all priced at £10-£15 more than buying an actual physical copy from amazon which is stupid
-
Yeah I can't recall the last time I paid over £40, nearly all games are £40 from amazon, making £20 half the price of a brand new game...the only exception I have found is diablo ultimate evil edition for ps4 which is stubbornly sitting at 45-50 everywhere it's odd...it's actually what has held me off on buying it, seems small but it's just enough for me to think twice, which is what is happening with this dlc...id buy it in a heartbeat at $20 though
