they already invaded... hence why earth looks pretty much desolate... we start our characters after a great war was fought (that the speaker could have told us) not before.

EDIT: I failed to read on the inter web where it states a specific story/main campaign length any video game needs. Since there is none what gives any of you the right to tell Bungie/Activision how long their story should be in their game. Just a bunch of ungrateful bastards. It must really piss you all off knowing that this game has more content that you will need to purchase. I have more to say...
