Wake yourself up. Your numbers are all wrong. 350 millions dollars is a blazing succes. Don't forget that the 500 million dollars being pumped in is on a 10 year term. So the revenue they had in one month could easily have been double the initial investment. With two more releases and at least 5 more expansions still to come that's adding up real quick. Do the real math and you'll quickly realize that's very lucrative. We're talking easily over 50% gross margin and in those kind of 8 figure numbers even for the gaming industry, that's astoundingly high.

 • They will eventually make money on this. No doubt. But this is still a monumental fiasco in the eyes of Sony and Activision. It's not about if you make money, it's about how much money you make compared to how much money you expected to make. Now it's all about to avoid sunk costs. Dude if you put $ 500 M into a game ur investors won't be satisfied with at least to double their money. It's you that don't have the facts right my good sir.

 • Again read the contract. Your numbers are false. They haven't spent a total of 500 million dollars and they won't hit that number for another couple of years. Official Bungie statements and the contract from 2010 that was leaked clearly shows this. As for your revenue number of 350 mill; that too is incorrect seeing that official statements by Activision prove that the game has grossed over 500 million dollars on day one. http://investor.activision.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=870169 http://www.gamespot.com/articles/destiny-budget-nowhere-near-500-million-bungie-says/1100-6420802/ http://www.polygon.com/2014/6/13/5807752/destiny-500-million-budget-activision-bungie

 • Destiny sold for $ 325 M the first 5 days ( my bad to leave that out). Cod bo 2 grossed $ 500 M in 24 h. GTA V- $1 B in 3 days. In other words: FIASCO. Activision stock market has gone down 17% in 1 month. How is this a success? People panicked and sold their shares when destiny didn't sell as much as they anticipated. 76 on metacritic is also a big fail and perhaps this will result that we will never see destiny 2 and 3. But that's just me speculating. But what I really want to say is that people hate on bungie when it's really not their fault. It's the investors fault that we have to buy the expansions that were initially supposed to be included in the game. You know that Michael Patcher, lead writer jumped if this project, when Activision decided they wanted to make more money. U know what we got instead of story? Grimoir cards. The game was not finished on deadline so they took away half the game just to sell it to us in DLCs. You know this right? Don't get me wrong, i love this game. But only the future can show us if it ever gonna be what it could be.

 • OK, I finally get where you're coming from and I absolutely agree on the bigger part of your arguments. Especially considering the huge pressure and skyhigh expectations certain parties had for this franchise. But I refuse to believe Destiny as it is, made a nett loss a month after its release. Can you give me a source for the 325 mill? Because if not, I still have the 500 mill gross revenue in the back of my head that Activision themselves mentioned compared to the initial investment that's nowhere near that number. In any case, we don't have to find common ground on the business side. All I gather from our talk is that we both like the game, we like the promise it held, the potential it showed but we dislike the end result and the feeling that the business side interfered too much with the overall gaming experience the most of us had.

 • U have it all wrong. The 10 year plan is on The franchise, not the game. New Destiny games will arive, and have the same budget. U are right that they have made more money then they have used, but not alot
