I don't know as much of the story as I probably should, but apparently some guy accused his ex of using sex to get good reviews for her game or something, and this bent a whole bunch of people out of shape. And because of critics like Anita Sarkeesian apparently calling the industry misogynistic, a lot of people were in a confrontational mood. So basically, a lot of gamers disliked being called misogynistic, and took revenge by acting misogynistic. Smooth move, gang.
