well the problem with that is you can only try for that gear once a week.
ok lets say you are like me, you go and create extra characters of the same class to try and increase your chances. that still is only three times a week you can try and you are repeating exactly the same mission over and over and over.
that's not exactly the most engaging content is it.

The raid is pretty engaging if your team doesn't cheese it. Even when the game is rinse wash repeat the fps aspect makes it more interesting than typical RPGs. The gear grind gives it the longevity that you don't get from CoD. Seriously, I can't think of the last time I got two months of game play out of an FPS

That really depends how you want to break it down I guess. I mean ya the Raid is engaging the first few times, but it gets old fast even if you are playing with friends. More interesting because it's an fps? I think most rpg players have played enough of fallout and Elder scrolls. If anything I think the sci-fy theme has more going for it. Gear grind that is unrewarding (shards over and over) more like gear frustration.

You may be right about the scifi being the more entertaining aspect. It is what got our attention with halo in the beginning, after all. Nobody can deny the RNG is wonky at best, but I guess it hasn't started to really bug me.
