Is anyone familiar with U.S. Antitrust laws, and how this exclusive content might be a violation of such? Just curious if this would apply, and if action can be taken...

  • Grow up? How is anything I said considered childish? -Secondly, what are you quoting? "Exclusive games to their respective systems" where are you pulling this information? -Finally, as the user above me stated, its a multiplatform game. Xbox consumers are paying the same price for less content and that is unfair to the consumer. No one is "losing their minds", people are concerned they are being taken advantage of, and have every right to ask questions regarding such. If you have no constructive input -be it for or against the topic-, see yourself out. I don't agree with any company that takes part in practices like this (PS or Xbox), I'm more or less interested how they can skirt around the laws and why this is considered acceptable among the gaming industry community.

  • The way they get around the laws is because the game is multiplatform. Since the game is readily available on both systems means that the content is available to eveyone. It's dirty and disrespectful to the consumer but that fact will win them any lawsuits concerning exclusives. The content is a timed exclusive with no set date to be released to the other platforms. They want money and if you want the content and dont want to wait, they will tell you sorry with a smile and ask that you buy the PS4 and buy the dlc when it is released. The content is available to everyone. you will just have to throw away more money to get it.

  • Thank you for that response. Its a shady business, and corporations feed off loopholes. It's a real shame people forget where they come from once they see the money being waved in their face (can't say I wouldn't do the same, it's just a shame).

Halo was a m$ ip. Just like last of us. Stop crying over a CONSOLE EXCLUSIVE. This is a multiplat game so exclusive anything should be kept to a minimum. You don't hear M$ Players bitching about the last of us. If we pa the same amount of money we should get the same amount of content on the same freaking game.

  • Well maybe you get the content later? ever think about that? we all knew about the exclusives since the pre orders were released. This has happened on countless other games."pre orer on the xbox and get access the blah bla stuff! Pre order on the Ps4 and get the thing with the stuff and the bla!

It was advertised from what I remember as launch exclusive dlc which is annoying but I can deal. It was not advertised as a ongoing thing in which the value of our money would be less on future content. The launch dlc is not a big part of the overall package but this dlc has a huge chunk taken out. One strike out of 2 is a big deal. IDC if it was a gun or two but an entire strike which in the end game is mainly what people play affacts the longevity of the game.

  • It wouldn't apply, though that would be an interesting case. I believe the situation maintains legality because the "exclusive" content has a predetermined date where it will be available on all platforms.

  • i don't support the idea of penalizing bungie like this... i just want the game to be better. That being said, because of the time frame of the exclusivity it alters the experience where the games are marketed as the same product. But I'll even admit my own argument is weak because i still enjoy the game even though it isn't exactly like the ps version.

  • I'm right there with you, mate. Bringing a lawsuit to Bungie would only do the opposite of what's trying to be accomplished. Besides, there's no doubt in my mind that the timed exclusivity deal is Activision's doing.

  • Regardless of who the lawsuit is against, The Federal Trade Commission established the Antitrust laws to protect the consumer (us) from being taken advantage of - (ie. paying the same price and not receiving the same content). However, I do not understand the different outlets and exceptions that fall under Antitrust laws, and therefore have no ground to stand on. Is there a lawyer in the room lol?

  • I'm aware, and if I may direct you to my previous comment. The "loophole" I suppose you could say, is that everyone payed for what was advertised for both consoles, and some got "extras" a bit early. The fact that the timed PS exclusive content isn't considered part of the core content, it technically doesn't violate the Antitrust Laws.

  • The laws themselves are extremely confusing, and this has been going on for sometime in the video game industry so I suppose that makes sense...just seems shady, always has to me regardless of Xbox or PS exclusives...
