To the people complaining about the DLC, updates, and bungie in general, let's take a moment to exercise some common sense.
DLC?
YES, a good portion of the future DLC is already in the game and is technically accessable by glitching out of the maps. However, if you were to actually do this, you would find that the areas are far from perfectly complete. They are very buggy and contain a whole lot of problems. Sure, Bungie included these places before launch, but have you ever considered that they did it to make it easier down the road for themselves, rather than just to rob you of money?
Furthermore, charging for DLC is not a new concept. Nearly every successful game does this. Call of Duty has been doing it for years and NO ONE complains! The only difference is that CoD doesn't put the maps in the game before, because its not a free roam world! So where would they put them?? But that doesn't stop them from charging you every penny they can get for each new map pack.
CONTRACTUAL RIGHTS
Upset that you are on Xbox and have to wait a year for stuff that Play Station already has? Well get used to it because there is a contract in place (just like how Xbox had rights to Halo) that says Playstation has the rights! At least it's just a year and not FORVER like halo was.
10 YEAR PLAN
If Destiny truly has a 10 year plan for expansions, do you actually believe that they can keep paying their employees for 10 years off of the 60$ we spent to buy the game? No! They would run out of money in no time. Just like any on running massive multiplayer online game, they need to charge a little bit of money in order to keep themselves functioning!
To everyone that feels the need to point out that the 10 year plan in fact involves several new titles and additions to the legacy, bear in mind that regardless of how the 10 year plan is carried out, it requires money. This game is Bungie's baby. They want to make it the best game they have ever made. Give them time, be patient, and enjoy the future releases.
UPDATES
People are constantly asking for updates for the game. I am sure bungie is listening to you, but what do you want them to do? Reply to 10,000 comments a day saying, "we read your comment and the idea is in consideration"? Do you have any idea how long it takes for developers to consider an idea, bring it before the board, plan the idea, beta test the idea, execute the idea, and finish the -blam!-ing idea? It takes a long -blam!-ing time! They plan on working on this game for 10 years. So expect many, many, many updates during that time. But they can only be done so fast. Developers aren't god. They can't build the world in seven days. So get used to it, or quit the game.
If you are patient enough to stick around, expect some pretty cool content coming in the near/far future.
TIME
Let's consider one final thing. The majority of the players that have run out of things to do in Destiny have played 150+ hours. This game has been out for less than two months. The reason it is out of content is because we have literally OVERPLAYED it. Speaking from personal experience, I have played nearly 300 hours because this game is amazing. I highly doubt the developers of the game were ready for that.
If you are worried about content running out, maybe slow down a little bit. Even at my 300 hours, I am still having fun. But that's just me.
However, there are very few games that are capable from ripping me away from the real world.

Stop being such entitled little bitches and either just quit the game or accept that the world isn't free and takes time to make perfect.

TL;DR (too long; didn't read)
- It is not free to continue producing content for a game
- A 10 year plan requires a 10 year budget
- The DLC "already in the game" is not finished. If you glitch out to it, you will see it needs considerable work before being ready for play.
- Bungie is contractually bound to release certain content on PSN only (for a year), it's not an option. Thats how contracts work.
- Updates take a considerable amount of time, and if Bungie wants this game to last 10 years, they need 10 years of updates. Be patient.
- If you are out of content already it may be time to go outside, or maybe call one of those friends you forgot you had.
Well when you think about it, Microsoft has more money than they will probably ever need. But thats no reason for them to start handing out copies of Office for free. The world runs on money, and whether we like it or not, we are part of the world. If the DLC was free, I would love it. But I very seldom get handed free things, so I am not too worried about buying it.
I can spend 20$ for one night downtown that I won't even remember. I would happily spend 20$ for another 100 hours of gameplay that I will love every minute of.
Well it would be useful if they could limit trading to level 28's and up, or something like that. That way, people have already likely gotten good at the game. I would hate to play a strike with a couple of level 29s who have the skillset of level 22s just because they traded their way up. I suppose that's my other main concern. But I see no problem with what you're talking about, just like I wouldn't mind getting warlock raid gloves from a buddy who has multiples, maybe in exchange for one of my multiple Patience and Time rifles or something like that (well..... before Xur sold it, that is... lol) But yeah, trading would help me out in some situations, sure; however, I still think it's such a rewarding experience to finally get that drop when you've been waiting so long. And to limit the no-skill people that want to trade their way to the top? A minimum level restriction could be implemented like I suggested. That's the only way I'd feel decent about trading being allowed.

A 1000x bump. completely agree.

So the President of Bungie intentionally lied to Eurogamer (and consequently US) when they asked the question "is there any Playstation exclusive content in The Dark Below?" His answer was NO. That is an outright lie. The Eurogamer article was yesterday (10/29/14) so Bungie cannot say "well, things changed". I never jumped on to the "Bungie lied" train.... until NOW. The lie is right there, in the open, for anyone to read.
-
The question was, is there any more exclusive content, after he had just talked about the raid. So, yeah, read the interview before spouting off.
-
Not true. Xbox players get it in a year, so its not "exclusive" to playstation. Gran Turismo is exclusive to playstation, meaning xbox players will never get a release for it on their console.
-
But will anyone still care in a year? By then they'll have lost most xbox players because we've already played all the content again and again and it's still a month or so until a very small dlc becomes available. I might as well spend the money on a new game instead really.
-
We were exoecting hours of cutscenes, faction wars, and content that would make this like mass effect or skyrim. Instead we get a standard meh dlc. Have you read the post on redditt where allegedly some people in the studio thought there was too much story for people with short attention spans? Hence the lead wrter left and they cut out hours of cutscenes from the game. The factions were supposed to be properly introduced with cutscenes and actually tied to the main storyline. All of that was cut. In the game currently, they're meaningless.
-
Everyone I know skips cutscenes so we can get back to the fun stuff. This game seems built around fun gameplay and awesome mechanics. I sure as hell didn't buy this game for the story. Story games are one and done. One playthrough, and it's over. I'm so glad Destiny wasn't one of those games.
-
It could have been both. Great story, followed by fun endgame grind
-
Well I wouldn't have complained if that were the case. But I'm not complaining now either, because the end game is fun enough for me. But, yes I agree, story AND everything else the game has to offer would have been cool. Just not as necessary as some people seem to think.
-
Good post. Also as a side note; I'm not sure the actual numbers but Bungie only receives a portion of the $60 per game sale. Part of it goes to the business selling it, and more still goes to the publisher. DLC is a necessary part of this game's improvement and people need to see that.

Well said sir... cheers..

My thoughts exactly, though my points weren't so eloquently worded. Expectations have been bloated out of proportion and need to be addressed, if only the rabble would take there head out of there collective ass and listen for a moment.
-
Well said. +1

Let's be honest with ourselves now, we ran out of things to do after hour 20, hours 21-200 have been just repeating the first 20 over and over because the game still hasn't provided the gear you/me/we want, so we just keep mindlessly grinding in hopes of getting that gear. You can not put any $ value not hours 21-200 because there's no value there to be found that wasn't already in the first 20 hours.

Edited by SmokeShadow_27: 10/30/2014 8:50:08 PMYou haven't even got a new gun or gear to work on leveling up in the past 180 hours???? Damn bruh. RNG really does hate you. I'm the opposite. Even after playing 5 straight hours in a day, I've still got more guns to level up, and maybe a bounty or two left on one of my characters. Just never enough time in the day. Sorry to hear about your bad luck though bruh, for real.

So your saying if you put 150 hours into a game in a short time it's over played? I'd say the games done it's job. However I would argue as to what you did with those 150 hours defines the game. If your like me and have been spending weeks for needed items that you cannot obtain without the aid of friends only to result in disappointment then time was wasted. This games loot system is programed so that you practically have to play it for hours to get anything.
