To the people complaining about the DLC, updates, and bungie in general, let's take a moment to exercise some common sense.
DLC?
YES, a good portion of the future DLC is already in the game and is technically accessable by glitching out of the maps. However, if you were to actually do this, you would find that the areas are far from perfectly complete. They are very buggy and contain a whole lot of problems. Sure, Bungie included these places before launch, but have you ever considered that they did it to make it easier down the road for themselves, rather than just to rob you of money?
Furthermore, charging for DLC is not a new concept. Nearly every successful game does this. Call of Duty has been doing it for years and NO ONE complains! The only difference is that CoD doesn't put the maps in the game before, because its not a free roam world! So where would they put them?? But that doesn't stop them from charging you every penny they can get for each new map pack.
CONTRACTUAL RIGHTS
Upset that you are on Xbox and have to wait a year for stuff that Play Station already has? Well get used to it because there is a contract in place (just like how Xbox had rights to Halo) that says Playstation has the rights! At least it's just a year and not FORVER like halo was.
10 YEAR PLAN
If Destiny truly has a 10 year plan for expansions, do you actually believe that they can keep paying their employees for 10 years off of the 60$ we spent to buy the game? No! They would run out of money in no time. Just like any on running massive multiplayer online game, they need to charge a little bit of money in order to keep themselves functioning!
To everyone that feels the need to point out that the 10 year plan in fact involves several new titles and additions to the legacy, bear in mind that regardless of how the 10 year plan is carried out, it requires money. This game is Bungie's baby. They want to make it the best game they have ever made. Give them time, be patient, and enjoy the future releases.
UPDATES
People are constantly asking for updates for the game. I am sure bungie is listening to you, but what do you want them to do? Reply to 10,000 comments a day saying, "we read your comment and the idea is in consideration"? Do you have any idea how long it takes for developers to consider an idea, bring it before the board, plan the idea, beta test the idea, execute the idea, and finish the -blam!-ing idea? It takes a long -blam!-ing time! They plan on working on this game for 10 years. So expect many, many, many updates during that time. But they can only be done so fast. Developers aren't god. They can't build the world in seven days. So get used to it, or quit the game.
If you are patient enough to stick around, expect some pretty cool content coming in the near/far future.
TIME
Let's consider one final thing. The majority of the players that have run out of things to do in Destiny have played 150+ hours. This game has been out for less than two months. The reason it is out of content is because we have literally OVERPLAYED it. Speaking from personal experience, I have played nearly 300 hours because this game is amazing. I highly doubt the developers of the game were ready for that.
If you are worried about content running out, maybe slow down a little bit. Even at my 300 hours, I am still having fun. But that's just me.
However, there are very few games that are capable from ripping me away from the real world.
__________________________________________________________________
Stop being such entitled little bitches and either just quit the game or accept that the world isn't free and takes time to make perfect.

TL;DR (too long; didn't read)
- It is not free to continue producing content for a game
- A 10 year plan requires a 10 year budget
- The DLC "already in the game" is not finished. If you glitch out to it, you will see it needs considerable work before being ready for play.
- Bungie is contractually bound to release certain content on PSN only (for a year), it's not an option. Thats how contracts work.
- Updates take a considerable amount of time, and if Bungie wants this game to last 10 years, they need 10 years of updates. Be patient.
- If you are out of content already it may be time to go outside, or maybe call one of those friends you forgot you had.
Well when you think about it, Microsoft has more money than they will probably ever need. But thats no reason for them to start handing out copies of Office for free. The world runs on money, and whether we like it or not, we are part of the world. If the DLC was free, I would love it. But I very seldom get handed free things, so I am not too worried about buying it.
I can spend 20$ for one night downtown that I won't even remember. I would happily spend 20$ for another 100 hours of gameplay that I will love every minute of.
You make some good points, but I have three issues with your diatribe. First, many other developers include substantial expansions at the same price. Second, your "love it or leave it" mentality improperly undercuts any valid criticism of the game. Third, your profanity is merely an example of the level of intolerance, ignorance, and stupidity that permeates these forums. Great job.

Edited by Stickman Al: 10/30/2014 7:32:29 PMProfanity is not always a sign of lack of intelligence or the inability to express a point cogently. The 'f' word is actually one of the most versatile words in the English language.
-
Try using the "f" word in an office. Good luck.
-
Try making your reply relevant to the subject matter kid, we're not in an office.
-
Edited by nmendez79: 10/30/2014 8:50:28 PMNo seriously, good luck. Judging by your comments I suspect that you are going to need it. Either that, or good looks. Kid. Now I'm really done. Bye bye.
-
No seriously. Good luck. You clearly need it. I'm done with you now.
-
Yes, make vague insinuations about me and claim victory while you turn tail and run away. If you can't challenge someone intellectually it's all you can do I guess. Good luck with that.
-
Naw man. I was on the toilet killing time. I got more important stuff to do. Good luck with everything though.
-
Erm... I use the "f" word in my office all the time and have a great relationship with my staff and colleagues. Oh and I'm senior management now, so it never did me any harm on the way up here or since I've been in post :)
-
Depends on your office. I am in a highly professional, respected office atmosphere and we drop f-bombs all day. Doesn't mean anything, negative or positive. Just a word.

To the guy who made this blind comment. DLC? You quite obviously have not glitched out to these locations because I'm going to list all the things that make it different to the Destiny experience we already have: 1. No enemies (with the exception of one on Mars and the King's Watch location (King's Watch even has a boss, same health bar and everything) 2. Lack of kill boundaries when falling off the map. 3. No objectives (this point however is invalidated because objectives for any mission are only present during the mission which can only be selected via orbit.) 4. Oh wait there's nothing else, no glitchy walls/surfaces, no texture pop-ins, no unfinished scenery, no gameplay lag, no game crashes, nothing. All these areas need are enemies (with the exception of King's watch), kill boundaries and accessibility. Furthermore charging for DLC, while not a new concept, has in tradition been charging for enough content to hopefully keep the game alive long enough for the next DLC to be released, I assure you the lack luster content they've announched will barely extend the life of the game by two days of casual play or about 6-10 hours of gameplay depending on skill level. Contractual Rights Good point however "Xbox had rights to Halo", "...just a year not FOREVER like Halo was.". You realise Halo is an exclusive game, right? It's Microsoft owned. You know what it isn't? Halo isn't a game produced by an independent company, designed and released on multiple platforms for the same price. As an Xbox gamer I see that it makes sense to not be able to play Sony games like Uncharted or Infamous however the fact that I payed as much money as a PlayStation owner and still got less content for the same game on a console of the same caliber is a very valid reason to be repelled from Bungie as a company. 10 Year Plan I hope this whole part was you joking. “For marketing you’d have to ask Activision people, but for development costs, not anything close to $500 million. I think that speaks a lot more to the long-term investment that we’re making in the future of the product.” This implies either Marketing cost a couple hundred million or most of that money is what will pay the employees until the next game which undoubtedly will have another massive budget. In addition to that within the first five days alone Destiny reportedly sold over 300 million dollars and since has made well over 500 million. Still think they're hurting for money? Now take into consideration Skyrim had a budget of 85 million development and marketing this was a 3.5 year game to develop and I think we all know which was the better game. Updates You're either stupid or working for Bungie and/or Activision. *dramatic sigh* Let's look at updates Bungie has implemented: 1. Nerfing weapons 2. Removing non-game breaking tactics to obtain gear such as loot caves, which was really probably the most fun I had outside the Raid and implementing kill boundaries in certain places such as the floating platforms at the Templar. 3. "Fixing" the Cryptarch problem, while a good thing now legendaries are few and far between from actual gameplay and legendary packages give 2-3 rares more often than one legendary. 4. Fixed Atheon being pushed off (Thank god) 5. Changing rotation of maps in Crucible. Now what hasn't been fixed: 1. Voice communication, this isn't about lack of proximity chat but even between matchmade fireteams there's nothing (and they call this a "social shooter"). 2. Matchmaking for Raids, Weekly & daily challenges as well. Even just a playlist for story missions at say level 24 with some rewards would be nice. 3. Balanced multiplayer (believe it or not the nerfing of weapons has done nothing to crucible as intended but has crippled use of many things in PvE) 4. Something they said they were working on weeks ago, buffing weak exotics such as Thorn which let's be honest is worse than a rare handcannon 5. Sparrow races, actually just more game modes in general. 6. Crucible, there is 4 permanent playlists and two playlists which come on every two weeks all of which are in essence the same. Kill other people. There's no objective gametypes, don't even mention Control or Salvage I've gone in with a bunch of friends to prove the objectives don't count by not capturing a single point in a game and winning purely by kills. 7. Events. Iron Banner, level advantages enabled? At level 2 with a defense rating of >100 and a damage output of 23 tell me how I possibly got a Reign of Terror against an entire team of level 27+ with the lowest defense rating of 1200? And let's not even get into The Queen's Emissary 8. Private -blam!-ing lobbies. 'nuff said The list of things that are more important in improving the game but not being addressed goes on. _________________________________________________________________________________ Stop being an idiot and realise that the game is nothing like what was promised before release. _________________________________________________________________________________ Tl;Dr: - They have more than enough money - They already have more than enough for a 10 year plan - The "glitchy" DLC just needs enemies and kill boundaries, give me a dev kit and 12 hours and I could fix that. - The fact the contract is in place at all is stupid. - Updates don't take nearly as long as they are for Destiny a two man team could produce and test updates a faster rate than this. - Updates should be prioritised correctly That quote is stupid, I'm fine with paying for something extra that's worth it. You'd get more value buying 2 $10 Arcade games. And if you only spend $20 for a night downtown that you won't remember, you're either leaching off other people or living in a place where everything costs like $3.

Bump. Plus Evolve alpha is out right now.
-
You're a total douche noggin
-
You have raised many valid points and supported them with facts, Crazi Jake.
-
I had the observation, it was you who provided the explanation.

Edited by Polaris: 10/30/2014 8:21:59 PM20 bucks is nothing.. the issue I have is that they want 20 bucks for content that should have been playable while leveling your character. Take the 3 story missions for instance. They are lvl 10, 14 etc.. wouldn't it make sense to do those on your first play through when you were lvl 10,14 etc? It certainly makes sense to me. This is not an Expansion! this is a bandaid on their F#$k up and they ar wanting us to pay for the bandaid.
-
I'm quite sure, as with any story mission, that you will be able to change the difficulty up to level 28...or possibly higher but I don't know about that...
-
Im pretty sure ya will be able to aswell.. but on first play through its still only a lvl 10, 14 etc strike.
-
Yea and gluten will make ur dick fly off

Your TL;DR section was TL so I DR.

Edited by Roller__Toaster: 10/30/2014 6:50:27 PMI'll be 100% honest. If they straight up told us what happened to the story, and why they tore it to shreds before release(as well as why their lead story guy quit very near the release)..I would have 10x more respect for them. If they would simply say "We realize you want to be able to talk to other guardians, trade loot, have a colorblind mode, be able to actually FREE roam the environments without getting a "turn back now" message, and we are planning on fixing these things (OR simply say, "this is not what we want in our game, even though you, the games want it) I would be satisfied. But passive comments like "your voice is heard", while nothing is being done is quite frustrating.
-
Not all of that is wanted. There is a huge split of people that want trading versus people who don't, for example. My Heart of Praxic Fire made me soooo damn happy when I finally got it off an exotic engram from Xur. It would have been lame to simply trade my useless exotic titan chestpiece for the Praxic Fire. It would have taken a lot of the excitement out of getting a new piece that I've wanted for so long. Trading would make this game boring quickly. In a game where gear and weapon accrual is a big part of the game, and often crucial and time consuming, why in God's name would you want to be able to get it all immediately through trading? Then what? Also, consider the millions they see playing for the same amounts or longer each day. Then consider the measly hundreds or maybe thousands that gripe on the forums. Bungie is not going to give every child with a keyboard what they want. They are going to try to improve on what is already clearly working well, and attempt to fix what isn't. I think they've been fairly more communicative than any other game company I've dealt with.
-
If trading is implemented, no one will force you to trade anything.
-
True. But it takes a lot of time away from anybody who plays this game. Would you have wanted to trade your way up from level 5 to a level 20? Or did you enjoy getting there yourself? That's my point. It seems like a cop out for people who want the easy way out. Why does everybody want to finish a game so quickly these days? Am I the only one who thinks it's fun to put in the time and feel the satisfaction of achievement? I'm glad there's still a few exotics I don't own. If I had every gun and gear in the game, then it just turns into another battlefield or COD, where's there's nothing left to do but kill each other and mow down enemies, with nothing else to work towards. Maybe some people want that, but sure sounds boring to me. In fact.... doesn't sound like Destiny to me at all.
-
I completely agree. But for those of us who don't have infinite time to play the game l, and have been doing the raid as much as possible to try and get raid gear, only to get shaders and cloaks....I'd be 100% ok with trading with a friend who just did the raid with me and got the hunter raid gear i need, while i just got ascendant shards for the umpteenth time.
