I have the same stance against all games really it's just for them to draw more money from consumers. I think what brings it on is the fact you used to be able to buy expansions for games which had a whole games worth of content and now not even a whole game has a decent amount of content that's acceptable for the amount of money being paid.

Sorry for typo in first paragraph.

  • Yeah I do love the game too its just the whole they say it's an mmo without subscriptions but you have to pay for additional content which is pretty much the same thing and their servers are poor for it. I got kicked out less on games back in the 56k era. Also it's not like the expansion is additional since for an mmorpg the core game content is seriously lacking plus the loot system is absurd and rewards luck over effort which isn't nice when your not a lucky person haha

I feel like if it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck too sometimes.. To me and my friends server disconnections are too frequent and too random, seemingly . I don't think Bungie has ever said it was an MMO, they have actually tried to not get the media to runaway with calling it an MMORPG. And it seems like the media has given them that but the still call it an MMO. I guess I can agree with that branding but I dont think Bungie does... They consistently called it the first game in its own subgenre of the FPS and MMORPG, they have only said that Destiny is a Shared World Shooter. I don't think they've ever referred to it as an MMORPG. Trust me I get it. I totally do get a lot of the criticism... Destiny is not a perfect game. It is an amazing game and does a heck of a lot right. More than wrong, in my opinion. I guess the wrongs are outweighing the rights for a lot of people.. I just feel it has gotten too much. The game should be appreciated for what it they marketed it as, a shared world shooter. Not an MMO, RPG, FPS even though Destiny can be considered all 3 of those things. Just bout every update gets me giddy about what the future of this game, or even the frickin sequel will be... I have never been able to say I will be playing all the way up til that point. But it hasn't gotten its hooks out of me yet 120+ hours in... I have barely even touched crucible (just over 150 cruc marks earned total!) so there is even more I can do. I doubt it will last forever but I will enjoy it while it does. I honestly don't think people in general give this game a fair break.

What the first expansion is offering is kinda light compared to my expectations... But your sentiment is entirely true... Older CoDs (MW1) launch with 15maps and you'd get 3 maps for 15$ each... That is 1/5th of half the game for 1/4th price... Destiny you get 1/3 the multiplayer maps and maybe 2 hours additional story and from reading interviews it sounds like the story is going to be presented and structured very differently. Towards end of game missions started taking 45-60 minutes first time through... I'd image each of the new 3 story missions will at least be that long, probably longer. So 33% extra PvP maps, 33% more strikes, 100% more raids, and dozens of pieces of new armor and weapons (based off PS, XB adjust $ a tad) for 33% of game cost. That sounds about right/industry standard. All in all I think Destiny gets a bad wrap for not being what people expected... I am having more fun and playing it WAYY more than I expected going into it... However I was on a 5 year FPS boycott (No PvP and hardly any FPS PvE from CoDMW2(2009) til Titanfall2014) and I love loot based games (dungeon crawlers)... I hardly played Destiny unless my clanmates were on. I was too busy playing games I was really digging. Then on October 9th everything all changed. A month after games release and playing an hour+ a day half way willingly with my friends, we finally attempted the Vault of Glass. I refused to read anything on it so when I finally played it I was blown away. The following night we finished it (after getting stuck at the spawning Atheon battle first night!) and I have been absolutely hooked ever since. Going for all exotics and max Grimoire Score. :) I respect your decision about this game. I just hope you gave it a fair shot because this game has amazing mechanics so everything else that needs to be fixed can. In its current state Destiny is the game I have always wanted. Not executed the way I wanted it but my expectations were low coming in as I don't dig into FPS much so I was presently surprised when Destiny fulfilled an itch I have had my whole life... Halo tight shooting mechanics married with the dungeon crawling, loot collecting, character building role playing systems of Phantasy Star Online or Diablo.
