I agree with most of what you are saying; I was mostly hoping Bungie was done with the platform wars.
1990s: Myth and Marathon were Mac only for at least decade. It made me sad as a PC gamer, but I stole enough time on my friend's Mac that I was able to enjoy those games.
2000-recent past: Bungie became a first party developer for Microsoft, making the Halo games (effectively) XBOX only. It made me sad as a PS2 owner, but this time I had an income so I grabbed an XBOX and 360.
Present: Bungie is making multi - platform games! Finally I don't have to run from one system to another for one of my favorite developers!
Oh, there's some PS exclusive content? Well that's sad, but sort of the norm these days. Whatever, I'm enjoying the content available.
Awesome, DLC is coming out already and it's even at the same time for both systems! Oh, there's content in the DLC that I paid for but can't access for a year? That's... that's not normal at all. That's a disturbing new turn in the way DLC is delivered. Every other game gives full content DLC when you pay for it, even if you have to wait for the content to exist, season pass, or for a longer period than the other console.
Is this really the direction we want the platform wars to go in? Plenty of people tell the opposing console's players to suck it up; they had to wait for this DLC, or didn't get that game at all. I'm of the mind that players, regardless of system, shouldn't be penalized by 3rd party developers (or publishers) just because they didn't pick the correct system du jour. Do gamers (PS, XBOX, PC, etc.) want it to become normal that you can't get the full worth of your DLC unless you are still playing the game 12 months later? Do you really dislike your fellow gamers enough to wish such a thing on them? Is that how you want developers and publishers to treat you?
It's good for a short term laugh at the poor saps that aren't smart enough to grab your console. Long term though? Long term we all get screwed.
